i think he is competant in the studio; he knows how to mix down a track and have it sound punchy, warm, clean, three dimensional, full without being cluttered, and have it sound good on a club system. i can also tell he puts alot of time into perfecting small details & manipulating samples, such as cutting them up, reversing them & adding varying types of effect to them

however this doesn't (imo) make him a good artist, it makes him a good engineer. every one of his tracks i've found dull & quite formulaic with little creativity, re-using the same style of bassline, twinkly synths & vocal manipulation. never once have i heard one of his tracks in a set and thought "damn, that stands out", or really acknowledged it at all even

but whatever. it's all been said before

perfect... i respect you a lot more... i do agree with you he is amazing in the studio. on an artistic level and creative level, i disagree because although you mention cutting and reversing vocals on the technical side its much more than that.

he's taking samples, resetting keys and making melodies out of them. it's really cool from a producers standpoint to sit back and listen to.

i like his remixes, the sounds he uses are very interesting to me. I like his productions too, fresh and clean. I hope to go to his release party next week.

cant comment on his djing, but jeez, if he really was redlining, he should go back to reading books on how to use studio gear :x

Not really.

I hate you people for saying "Oh, I like such and such as a producer but as a DJ... bla bla *whine, whine*"

I make music but I am never going to be able to play live because I dont even have the equipment. Does it even matter...? can't we all just respect artists for their music!?

The only reason that you guys bag DJs all the time is because you go to clubs all the time so you take it for granted. If I lived near any nightclubs and went to one, I'd just be happy to be having a good time.

Because a lot of people here go to clubs as if it is their profession and that's not a joke. Instead of going to dance, meet new people, get drunk if thats what you like, and have fun... they go to see how technically skilled the dj is and listen out for clean tight mixing and superb track selection. Pretty much defeats the purpose of going to a club and having some good ol fun doesnt it? And those are the very same people on here who like to bash djs over and over again for simply no reason but to make themselves feel better in sounding like they know what they are talking about. That is why its hard for them to go to a Tiesto or Armin show and have fun and it boggles their mind why THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS go to see Tiesto and Armin and have a blast! Oh well, sucks to be those people is how I look at it. :)

Attitudes like those only perpetuate music and DJ's getting gigs out. Beyond the fact that the two of you are responsible for what are without a doubt some of the most illogical, poorly written, and absurd posts on this form, you both clearly have no respect for those of us so infatuated with DJ'ing as an art that we actually go out to a club for the music. I don't understand why this is so difficult for you to wrap your brains around, why should I go to a club just to hear a DJ trainwreck all night? I might as well go to a club where Winamp is cued up with a playlist of tunes that will sound massive in a club.

You both seem to have this chip on your shoulder regarding those of us who quote "like to bash djs over and over again for simply no reason but to make themselves feel better in sounding like they know what they are talking about," but what about food/movie/book/* enthusiasts? Do you think that fans of movies go out to see something, don't like it, and just decide, "Eh, it was worth it to sit in those movie theatre seats and eat some popcorn!" No, they voice their opinions and criticisms just like anyone would. So why then, is it so hard for you to fathom, that some of us don't go out to a club to "meet new people and get drunk," but rather actually go to enjoy a night of live music? And beyond that, why is it that you seem to think it's such a terrible thing when people are critical of a DJ or producer who is lacking in ability? If every clubber and EDM fan had the same mindset you two do, I shudder to think just how long DJ Sammy would be ranked the #1 DJ in the world.

And as an aside, DOOMBOT, rather than just attacking those of us who are critical of the unbelievable amount of garbage you listen to, why don't you try to reason out a valid response to the criticism? I see you post on here day in and day out complaining about how someone doesn't like a track or DJ that you do, but you never come up with any kind of rational defense. This only leads me to further believe that you, in fact, are even more clueless in reaility than you appear on TA.

So your best defense of your beloved producers and DJ's are witty quips made in an attempt to make another TA look bad?

Well done, you truly are a brilliant orator and master of argument!

Have you considered joining your Middle School's debate team?

Beloved what? I listen and go out to see djs of all genres of music. I have no hate for anyone. Can you say the same for yourself? There is nothing to debate here. You have a hard time going out and simply enjoying yourself at a club no matter the dj and I dont. END OF DISCUSSION.
