| Yes I know and yes I read it. That is great that he once utilized all of those technologies at one point. Why not continue to do that while embracing the new one is my question and point. Another reason why I respect Zabs for what he does yet simply can't enjoy what he plays. |

And GB, I have ALWAYS listened to other stuff. Never do I limit myself to any style of music, whether it be rock or classical. I just talk more about what I enjoy more. I know that this forum covers ALL aspects of the EDM community but I post a lot based on my clubbing experiences. This is why you see more ARMIN ARMIN ARMIN from me because I ALWAYS have an absolute blast at his parties. I post in the DJ Discussion forum and other parts as well and hit other parts of the EDM scene that you guys here dont see all the time.
I love it all, to make it simple. :) |

Well, if you always have listened to other things, what's the point of this thread. :p |

Me buying new stuff to dj with. :D
At first I bought a lot of tracks that I would listen to on my PC or in the car and then rush home or a site to buy it then get it in the mail and Im like... I shoulda got something else. Ive put more thought into what type of sets I want to play, etc...
Put it this way, I was sitting on 4djsonly.com the other night going through the mess they have there and listening to the full song samples and ran into a lot of stuff I never dreamed of. :D |

the only time i've seen "prog" used for anything but progressive house has been here on ta. progressive trance has always been "trance" and record stores have always mislabeled genres imo. satellite records had a section labeled "progressive" and it was ALL progressive house. progressive breaks went under "breaks" and progressive trance was under "trance". There was no confusion |

I remember when I first got into the the EDM scene.. the only genre I could tolerate was the following: Hardstyle, Gabber, and Happy Hardcore.. (but a bit too much and I get frustrated) [too cheesy] I was always at those raves in the Bronx (Key Arena), and Jamaica (Amazura Ballroom). [several events, same venue]
THEN, I got introduced into the club scene.. and although I have no regrets, my club career was conceived from my weekly Friday nights at Exit with Dj Tony Draper. And as time passed.. and I became a promoter with Mix Events, I was introduced to the major trance headlining DJs as The Thrillseekers, Dj Scot Project, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk, E-Craig, Markus Sculz, Max Graham, et cetera. And from that point.. I began falling into the uplifting, melodic trance. Then one night, Bad Boy Bill came to EXIT, and my goodness... I was so EFFING frustrated!! I've never heard of HOUSE MUSIC, or "chicago-style" house.. and I LEFT!!!!
Then I got introduced into my little friend *points at avatar*, and began partying harder, and obvious roll. And when I left EXIT, and I was still.. *cough* rolling.. my friends and I decided to Afterparty at Club Arc.. with Danny Tenaglia..
I HATED HOUSE.. or anything slower than 128BPM.. but DT.. had this style... and way of just getting me to dance with that slow.. dirty, funky beat of his.. (maybe it was the candy.. but gosh... this type of music is GOOD!) LOL
EXIT shutdown... and my hangout spot became Avalon. At that point I was still new to house/tribal.. but I preffered trance WAY OVER house.. then came one night Lisa Lashes came to town... threw down this SICK, INCREDIBLE hard house set.. and I was just banging the dancefloor to her set.. a little slower than hardstyle.. but so GROOVEABLE!! :toothless
long story short, I've adapted and accepted house and tribal beats. lol |
