Whats you favorite kind/brand of wine and why?
The reason I have a thing for wines is because of Madeira.
Madeira is a very tasy and a fruity wine and there is a whole story behind how it is made which makes it even more fascinating for me. It is made in Potugal in the island of Madeira. After basic fermentation process they leave the unready wine in barrels under sunlight for months - YEARS - MANY YEARS and then its taken out. Its very juicy/fruity. Definitely try it if you haven't..
The madeira wine I was drinking a couple of days back is about 30 years old. Wow.......thats like older than me...
Edit: Fan of red or white wine?? |

I am developing a thing for Italian wines at the moment. One of my favourites at the moment is the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Light and relatively fruity. Excellent for warm weather and a good pasta dish.
Just got myself a Nero d'Avola (or Calabrese) from the Sicily region.. Probably opening it tonight.
I used to go for the Cabernet Sauvignon's from South Africa, Chile or Australia, but I don't fancy them as much as I did anymore. There are definitely good ones to be found in this class though. |

MONEY NO OBJECT! :
Pesquera Ribera Del Duero Reserva, Either from 1999 or 2001.
Spanish Tempranillo, absolutely sublime. Quite expensive but my favourite of the Spanish reds. Honestly, at least try and get a bottle of the 1997,1999 or 2001 at least once in your life with a good meal. It's the definition of great wine.
MID PRICE!:
I've got a 1987 Marques De Caceres as well that i'm going to drink on my 21'st birthday, pricey stuff, but generally the less exepensive Marques De Caceres are really tasty Riojas.

BUDGET BARGAINS!:
Also Casillero Del Diablo from Chile,
It's really good, i was surprised because i just picked it up at the supermarket randomly and ended up loving it. I later found out it was voted in the top 100 value wines and i'm pretty sure you can find it around anywhere...
Anyhow, need any more advice, just ask. Except if you're looking for tips on white wine, i absolutely despise it...

Pasta and wine FTW. I am gonna do this for lunch today. I've not had the wine you're talking about but if its fruity then I am definitely trying it out. Just waiting to get done with exams. I am gonna buy like 10 bottles of wine I've never had before to celebrate :) |

I don't drink alcohol for religious reasons...I used to dabble with Mike's Hard in my gino years but I have always hated beer and wine.
However, I was at a business lunch the other day where we were trying to wine and dine this prospective client and my boss ordered a bottle of Italian "Amarone Valpolicella":

Normally I say no, but the client was insisting we celebrate so I asked the waiter to pour like a 10th of the wine glass (LOL he spilled more on the table trying to be careful than he did in my glass :p)
...and I tasted it...and WHOA!!! It was SOOOOOOOOo good!!!! I couldn't believe it!! You could actually taste the grapes in it!!! :eyespop:
I tried many a fine wine in France when I was living there and I hated them all--this was an absolute rarity for me!!! I'll be buying a few of these bottles when I go to Montreal for F1 week! :) (Thank you LCBO!!!)
