| just fyi, see if you can find any honda mechanics who run independent shops next time, thats what i did, i saved a couple hundred and got the same quality of work done, WITH a better warranty and all, plus you support the local guy :) |

that's a really good idea, actually... i think i'm going to look them up for future reference. it's tough since i'm not really familiar with the area i live in since i'm not from here, so i don't know a lot of places like that.
google search FTW though... if only i thought of this before i told them to go ahead with the work, ugh.
thanks for the tips, placebo. :) |

yeah..thats just standard maintenance
hondas will last over 300k if you get all the done on them
better then dropping 300 a month on a car that constantly has problems, like my volkswagen did ;) |

yeah, that's what i'm hoping for. i REALLY love my car... and i don't care about driving an old car as long as it runs good. i really want to be able to pay it off next year and still be able to drive it so that i don't have to make a $215 payment every month. |

If you can't replace your own spark plugs for less than $70, you've got problems. They're not very expensive and easier to change than your oil, which I think everyone should know how to do, too. It's one thing if you don't want to get dirty and do it, but it's another to have someone else do it because you don't know how.
Sucks about the converter, though. I had my transmission go on my high school car. That hurt the wallet and I had to get my parents to help out considering it was their old car and the transmission went 6 months after they gave it to me with 140K miles on it already. |

whats the mileage on the car and when was the timing belt last changed ?
timing belt and tensioners should be changed out every 60,000 miles
a timing belt snapping will result in valve damage which will mean head work.
what car is it btw? |

the problem with the spark plus is that apparently i had aftermarket spark plugs in there which were causing a problem, i think the guy said they were misfiring.
i really don't know much about cars. :\
Neo - it's a '98 Honda Accord LX coupe, and the mileage is just over 127k miles. the timing belt has never been changed since i've owned the car, and i bought the car 3 years ago with 42k miles. so i knew beforehand that it had to be replaced, but i decided to wait and have it done somewhere else for cheaper instead. i told them to go ahead only with the repairs that were causing the car to run bad. |
