Football isn't just a sport, to many people it's a language, a religion. We have countries in war or having just come out of war for example Ivory Coast & Togo in Africa, where the people are uniting for football, It's bringing entire nations together. The best thing is, you only need 1 piece of equipment, the ball for a game. Anyone can play, fit or not, and all walks of life too, all races. The atmosphere at some live games is just spine-tingling. I've been to games in foreign countries & not spoken hardly any of the language yet the people have enjoyed the game with me, knowing an appreciation of the game gives us something in common.

There are faults in the game, find me something in life there's not faults with. If you can honestly watch players such as Ronaldinho, Pele, Van Basten, Gullit, Lineker, Cruyff, Zico and thousands more and not be appreciative of their skills then fair enough, but if you're bashing for no reason, what's the point. I could easily pick apart the stupidity in some american sports. Baseball, let's see, thats just boring, American 'Football' well that's rugby for guys who need 30lbs of padding. Basketball, well I got love for that, it's fast paced but involves a lot of skill & works well. Ice Hockey. Who doesn't like organised violence? Point is, if you can't get into it, fair does, but if you're bashing because americans haven't picked up on it, wait lets see. bigger goalposts, lets make it quarters! etc then meh.

I think the original point was not soccer bashing but rather event bashing. :)

eh, meh? ;)

yeah, but add all the points up, and bring 32 different sets of people together, and it's a recipe for fun, and great viewing

Football would be a great sport if it werent so full of fluffy bastards crying cause their foot got stepped on everytime the ref blows a whitsle.

Its why when I lived in Europe I preffered watching rugby...

Sure, they exist, but there's plenty of divisions & teams who play a pretty physical game which is fun to watch as they smash up the prima-donnas

ok, i have to make one comment about american football

it cant just be compared to rugby imo. if you are into it and really understand all of what is going on, the strategy, the plays and all the different elements affecting how each play goes down i think you can really appreciate it more. basically if you grew up in the US playing madden you will get into it haha.

baseball sucks, and is boring as . take that back to the 1930s, i dont wanna watch that .

I love the NBA (mostly during the playoffs and finals) and college basketball (again, mostly in the playoffs)

I do hate all of the breaks and timeouts and huddles and the entire way american sports are presented, it just gets annoying to me. I dont know how to really explain what i mean, but basically everything is just one big advertisement in the US. its like "McGrady nails the fadeaway! That last sentence was brought to you by AXE shower gel." you feel me?

I would rather watch an exciting 90 minute game in which the clock only stops one time. I watch more EPL games than I do regular season NBA games.

This is the thoughts of many people this way. There's a huge perception of them being less sports & more just long advertisments

I agree, unfortunatley the bad apples really put me off watching games. If I wanted to see that crap I'd watch soap operas during the day...
