When I DJ at house parties...its House/Trance or nothing... the other week I started with house and was kickin the trance in at around midnight and everyone was loving it and just as the bpm picked up bigtime a guy walks up and is like "yo bro can you chuck on G-UNIT" and im like.....no!

ugh what a pain in the ass...i mean how do you have the balls to ask for crap music when its obvious what type of music is being played? especially at the peak of a set...you think people would know better...

More advices for house parties please, as me and a bunch of friends are throwing one this friday :D I got my first dj-gear last week and this will be the first time I'll be spinning for a crowd. There will be mostly electro- and tech house spun by me as I think that's superior to trance when playing for smaller crowds :p

Any advice on tracks to play to please the few people who might not be that much into EDM?

And what about monitoring? You don't really need that for this kind of parties, do you?
