Music is dead. Paris Hilton killed it.

So I was surfing channels and landed on this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1Qx...s%20are%20blind

I'd seen it before, but never had I had this realization that I was staring into the perfect embodiment of everything that is wrong with the world, resumed in a simple four minutes of anguish and undescribable torment.

I've been aware of the state of the pop industry for a long time, but never had it striked me so hard. There you have it; A woman who has never had to lift a finger in her whole life rich beyond any sense, uses her undeserved power to venture into a field she has no experience or knowledge of and manages a #1 chart topper on her first try, while the most talented artists are forced to work day jobs because they would otherwise starve to death. Despite this, not even the world's best video editors can make her look attractive, nor can the world's best producers and technology make her voice pleasant. At least other pop clips make a decent attempt at making the "artist" appear to be talented to some extent... but this... it's like they didn't even bother trying because they knew everyone would buy into it no matter what. Why they even bothered to record this song rather than packing a steaming pile of into a CD case and distributing millions of copies is beyond me.

Ishkur; sorry for stealing your tag line. I hope you don't sue me.

that tune is still loads better than the usual stuff played on MTV such as P Diddy and his gang.
KilldaDJ
meh id still bang her in the arse and see what she makes of that
RapidFire
gotta love the way she ripped off Red Red Wine.

Danny Ocean
she looks hot in the video. way better than the lindsay lohan puts out.

But the thing is almost everyone knows that Paris is an awful singer. I was listening to a local mainstream radio station and this girl called up and asked if they'ed play a song by her. The radio dj was like "God no. I'll quit before I ever play Paris Hilton on this station."
isoterra
haha this is nothing new, if music is dead now then it died LONG before paris hilton was ever about... just a case of same old story really

it does make me laugh that she'd be barely heard of if it weren't for that sex video :stongue:

I guess that DJ will have to quit, as I'm guessing you were talking about Milwaukee's 103.7 Kiss FM WXSS. According to Mediabase, the song is in Top 20 rotation this week at the station

I also have to agree with Rebel9 that there are worse Pop hits out there at the moment. Again, look at the most played songs on this local Milwaukee station. You see Nick Lachey in there, you see this super ghetto Rap hit from Young Joc called "It's Goin Down" (I like some Hip Hop but this is kinda blech). Or that annoying Pop song from Cassie "Me & U".

Processed, homogenised p0p has always been an easy vehicle to ride for the talentless and .

As long as major labels release this fodder, they can have no complaints as they continue to watch record sales plummet and (hopefully) implode leaving indies to rule the world without monopoly.

To summarise: The manufacturers of turds shall reap what they sow.:D
KilldaDJ
who actually buys this crap?
