That's a pretty redundant point. Rock music is electronic nowadays, pop music is electronic too. But that's besides the point, because the electronic elements of those genres aren't the dominant feature, they're there for convenience. When people refer to electronic music they're talking about music that showcases it's electronic aspect. And apart for car commercials, that's something that's still nonexistant to the bulk of american culture. |

EDM is too commercialized as it is; the last thing we need is American commercialization. |
Agreed.
In fact, I would rather head back to the time, where it was only available on vynil, and mp3 releases from bpm. :stongue: |

Oh come on man more people in europe know about Detroit Techno than the people in the states.
The people in the states don't even know that scene exists.
Your average suburban american idiot thinks about ''eiffel 65s'' one hit wonder when he hears the word 'techno'.
You have Chicago and New York house artists selling far more records in Europe than they could ever dream to sell in the states.
Why?
Media coverage, plain and simple.
Find that video interview of Derrick May from Exit festival saying that they had such a hard time trying to find a ing sponsor for movement.
Yeah... find that interview and maybe you will see what I am talking about dip. |
oh man shut the up...why do you care?
I dont see you bitching about Country Western music not being popular in Bulgaria or Death Metal not being popular in Antartica.
Stop being an elitist and thinking the world revolves around EDM...cus it doesnt and never will.
When DJs arent making bank every night playing tunes at clubs then start your bitching. |

That is so true, |
I find this decreasingly true, especially in the bigger clubs. A certain EDM lifestyle has been present for quite a while, and the majority of ppl I meet at those type of places dont give a damn about music. *cough* GLOW *cough* *cough* NEARLYEVERYTHINGINATLANTA *cough* |

| Everyday I wake up and EDM stays out of the American mainstream culture I thank the music gods. Luckily for EDM, the American populace is pretty xenophobic when it comes to culture. You rarely see foreign films or foreign music getting awards at the big American award festivals. You rarely see fußball (soccer) on television. There is a fear/mistrust/whatever you want to call it of things imported from other countries. Therefore (thankfully) the media and marketing folks can't get their hands on this wonderful genre of music and do to it what they did to hip hop. |

it's all about keeping this forum politically correct, that way it retains outside credibility,
i have been told this matter will be dealt with, i have nothing against the bloke with the sig and i'm sure he will be ok with it in the end.
these actions might be unpopular with people but they are the correct thing to do.
pls keep your personal attacks to yourself, just as i did with the sig dude |

When the world has become so PC that we can't even use some non-offensive slang from one language because it offends someone who speaks another, that's where I draw the line.
Also, the person you're complaining about has been a member for a year, with nearly 500 posts, yet for some reason, you're the first one who's bitched about it. Get over it, not everyone's always going to conform to your idea of decency. |
