yea some people are just morning people when it comes to working out. i used to push myself to try and be that person, but i realized it just isn't me. i get my 2nd wind after work, around 6 pm. that's when i like to blow off steam and get a little sweaty.

and as far as talking yourself into going when you don't feel like it, maybe try getting a friend to work out with u? u guys can motivate each other.

i mean, i just do what i want. if i'm not feeling like it, i just dont go. but then again (not to sound obnoxious), i'm not like in terrible shape...i've always been thin and looked pretty good, so i dont look at myself in the mirror and feel guilty if i skip a night. i just like to work out to get extra energy and try to look my best, but i dont think it's the end of the world if i dont go. i know it's different if you have a goal to lose a certain amount of weight or look a certain way. dont get me wrong, i have some areas i'd like to work on, but it's not of dire importance to me.

I'm a morning person.

Running in the morning is easier to me than swimming in the afternoons and I actually like swimming more than running.

Gents, what is it that spurs you on to go to the gym, even when you REALLY don't want to? How do you convince yourself to go?

Knowing that I'm not letting myself down. Knowing that I'm not taking the easy way out. It's cake to go into the gym after you've had a great day, full of energy, and have a good workout. What really shows your character is when you are tired and grumpy and can put all that aside and have a great workout anyways. That's what seperates the 'champions' from the 'pretty good athletes'. That's what seperates the people who sit around and say "I go to the gym but, I'm not getting the results I want" from the people who are getting results and saying "I want more, More, MORE!!"

a while ago, i read this article that claimed if you do something for 8 days straight, you become "addicted" to it
it was a while ago so i just kinda remember the main point of the article
but i think it was after 8 days you fall into the natural rhythum or what not

and my motivation for going to the gym is when your with a girl and she takes your top off and likes what she sees..... and partakes with what you worked hard to get
that will always get me motivated :whip:

lol, i don't go to the gym. call me old fashion, but pushups, situps, chinups and running is all i need. and really, when i'm done with a run, and i realized i ran just a little bit faster or a little bit longer, it makes me feel good. knowing that i'm coming home feeling good, i spose is motivation.

i know that probably doesn't help - and i'm truly sorry for that. however, when you are....you know....you don't have to go to a gym to get a decent workout. just do stuff in your own home. and since you aren't looking to "bulk" up or anything, all you really need is like one of those resistor bands.
