i never could find it in me to get all motivated to hit the gym during my period. but then again, i have a bit more severe PMS than most.
it's mostly a physical thing out of your control...it's hormones. just deal with it. if u work out on a consistant basis when you're not having your monthly friend, then it's not the end of the world to skip a few days a month.
you're allowed to induldge a little. you're a woman. that's a hard enough job in this world. so screw what the what the world says about it, and screw the gym when you're on your period!
my 2 cents. :D |
well said miss! |

but please keep in mind that I am a woman, and don't want to bulk up or anything. |
Oh, don't worry, you can't bulk up just like that. For muscle growth, testosterone is the main thing to blame, and since you girls produce like 0.2-0.3 [something] of it a day, compared to guys who produce 4-5 [something] of it, there really is no need to worry. :)
(Btw, that [something] is some unit of measurement, forgot which one exactly.) |

Alright, this is a question specifically for the ladies, but I am sure there are going to be tonnes of nosey guys reading this too, so I will also ask you a related question.
Gents, what is it that spurs you on to go to the gym, even when you REALLY don't want to? How do you convince yourself to go?
Also, I am wondering if anyone can give me a good outline for a female workout that will tone?
I am sure I have a lot of room for improvement. Guys, I know you will be inclined to give me suggestions on how to better my workout, but please keep in mind that I am a woman, and don't want to bulk up or anything.
Also, any suggestions on dietary additions?
Ok... GO! |
seems like u actually want responses from guys.... and specifically not females. |

after you get passed that 'i need to be motivated to go to the gym' phase, you'll find out going to gym becomes part of your lifestyle.
soreness goes away shortly after say 2-3 weeks at the gym then your skin just gets tight when your body is worked out.
im at the gym at 5am before work...no motivation needed just get up and gooooo |

Ok, gimme all your workout tips!!
Everything and anything. Specific excercises for the love handles, specific times, reps, etc. anything.
TELL ME! |
Ok, these are a couple of basic tips:
To burn fat, the most efficient way is to do your cardio work first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Give yourself at least thirty minutes. You can go longer than that but, the idea for cardio is to just raise your hear rate enough so that you are burning fat and keep it there. Doing cardio as hard as you can for 20 minutes is not the best way to do it. Additionally, there is no way to 'spot burn' fat, such as gocusing on the love handles.
In terms of adding weight via weightlifting, it's very doubtful that you would, so you you shouldn't concern yourself about bulking up. For most (natural) men, they have to lift with great intensity, performing exercises specifically designed to add mass and then on top of that, they have to cram large quantities of food in their bodies. It's even harder for women to gain mass. So unless you are on a pro bodybuilder diet and a powerlifting program, you are not going to bulk up. (my wife has this same concern) Your gym probably has a set of circuit machines, I would suggest experimenting with those. Go thru that circuit twice a week and see how you feel, which leads me to my next point......
Everyone's body is different and you should find what's best for YOUR body. Sometimes this can only be done by trial and error. Eventually, if you keep at it, you will start to learn your body and you'll know what I mean. It brings a whole new level to exercise!
