Art should be like that. Ideally yes. Although this does not say anything about the very definition of art; take remixes for example: every remix should have elements of the original, hence the amount of creativity needs to drop. After all, itīs still a piece of art.
I just think you want to say something else. I agree with you on the current 'state of trance'. |

I really can't stand that "omfg trance = classical", it's like some ppl need to justifiy why they listen to trance with other reasons than the obvious that it's good music and that they like it, to feel better about themselves maybe, i don't know. Trance is nowhere near the complexity of classical compositions. How many trance producers can write music for and direct an orchestra? |

Only if he utilizes turntables and\or dj technology in a MUSICAL fashion and to their musical potential.
If I'm amazing at drums, and I can't mix for , and don't care about phrase matching, harmonic mixing, or even beatmatching...that is NOT being musical with turntables and therefore, qualifies me in the category of NOT being a musician in the realm of DJ'ing. Just a kiss ass who loves dance music and like to pretend or maybe is just learning how to truly be musical behind decks. Nothing wrong with that! But truth is truth. |

Oh yeah, and most house/trance djs produce their own tunes anyways
Thats not entirely true. I'd say a vast majority of DJ's use engineers to produce their tunes :) |
