no he wasn't.

He was shown maybe 5 times for a couple of seconds, the music couldn't be heard clearly on the tv, and the centre of attention was the 2000 athletes on the field.

And people seem to be missing the point. Its not whether Tiesto is more famous than anyone else, but that he is the ONLY famous person from Holland. Which is not true, plenty of other famous people. Vincent van Gough and Rembrandt were two who predated Tiesto by many years

Maybe i read something different, because that was an awfully pompous letter by Tiesto. Reminded me of a Madonna or Britney Spears "toot my own horn" type of , while at the same time sending cheap shots to other people in the same industry (namely other DJs). But whatever he;s still a cool cat (despite the fact he lost the magik)

I do not agree. Maybe if you were in the same shoes, you would be doing what you claim Tiesto is doing. You are not him, or, you do not know what is in his heart. He sounds honest and not fake. People who are anger or have hate towards what others have done and accomplished, usually talk about others like you do. :(

On that contrary - i am very happy for Tiesto's success, i just think he needs a reality check.

Look at some of these quotes from this letter:

- "What differentiates me from others? Boy. I think that I feel the fibe very well in a club, either small of gigantic."

As if he is the only DJ that does that, i would most, if not all, do.

- "There are so many colleagues who spin with a sourpuss face."

bull...i have seen Tiesto many times with a bitchy look on his mug.

- "Drugs? Not for me. Only once did I take a pill. XTC."

If i am not mistaken didn't he mention in some article 2.5 years ago that he tried cocaine a couple times.

- "I know peers who are stiff with coke. I find that contemptuous towards the audience."

Nice cheap shot to his colleagues. Also i find it contemptuous when Tiesto would sit and with all the people in the booth and not pay attention to the audience.

- "Now I zip at a glass of champagne. Yes, times have changed."

wooo hooo mr fancy pants

- "Then I say: "Sorry but I'm having dinner now, so now is not the time". See, I wouldn't have said that years ago. "

That's typical of a star gone bad...when they are nobodies they always stop for the fans, when they swell they don't.

- "I think I'm quite popular with women. Before Monique I had a very wild time, many girlfriends."

Now come on Tijs, lets not get carried away here...yes you are a super star DJ and have lots of cash but a woman's man you are not.

Tiesto will always be one of my favs...but he needs to snap out of his bull...matter fact all these friggin super star DJs need to...the whole thing has really gotten out of hand.

But whatever.

There is only one simple answer to the over-analytical line-by-line demolition job you guys will continue to make on every word coming out of his mouth.

It is he has to shut the up and just get on with it.

Either the article is false, I dont give a . The fact is, TIESTO is a Trance Mover.

I respect Tiesto.

During the asian tour, Tiesto play about 34000 gigs in Indonesia. (its not his biggest party).

Armin play in ahoy - rotterdam (one of his biggest party ever) only for about 12000 gigs.

He is talking about himself. I remember hearing oakenfold, when Tiesto was 1st become popular, say that he really had a gift for reading the crowd.

I have seen Tiesto more into the music, with the exception of Ferry, more than PVD and other huge djs. I would think Tiesto travels allot more thant you do, or ever will, and has been @ clubs to see djs spin before him. I believe he is speaking from experience and not making it up, like you imply.

Most of the djs are drug addicts. I have heard my dj friends tell me the same thing. He didn't give names, but spoke a truth about the scene.

I do not get you. He is just sharing how he now lives, and now you have to roll your eyes @ him and say he is mr fancy pants. If I tell you that when I was younger i never went to the gym, but now as an adult, i go there 6 days a week, are you going to call me mr meat head?

I agree to a certain extent on this one. But, maybe he is just tired of never being able to go on a date or with friends, and eat a hot meal. lol

Bro, I will be to the point. YOu need to snap out of telling others how to live in their shoes. You are not a super star dj, and do not know what people of that popularity lives are like. It is like tyring to explain to a virgin what an amazing nite of making love is like (in marriage of course). It cannot be done. Unless they experience it themselves, no words will be able to describe what it is really like. You are a virgin @ being a SuperStar dj and until you live the lives these people do, you really have no argument to stand on to point out someone elses faults. I leave you with an interesting way of looking @ it:

And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

I wonder if it's just people in our community that are aware of the fact that Tiesto DJed at the Olympics.

My Mom watched the entire opening ceremony and when I asked her about Tiesto, she said "Who?" She was not even aware that they had a DJ playing.

Could it be that we are aware of Tiesto DJing at the Olympics because we keep reading and talking about the fact, but to the rest of the world, it barely measured a blip?
