Did he just compare Tiesto to Thomas Bronzwaer??
Lmfao.
Okay.
I think Colleen can say it for herself that the turnout for TB in Texas which was probably the same for Datt.. [Which we both attended] is gonna be bigger than Miami's.
Is that a joke?
yes indeedy. |

The venue does make a difference, but only if that venue is Space or Crobar, really. You can have DJ Little Dick in Space and Crobar, and the place will be full.
The thing is this. Miami is not really a music-oriented city. At all. We are. But Miami isn't, generally speaking. Out of all the clubs that gear their mentality toward music and DJs, only Crobar and Space consistently pull in big numbers. Just ask Nocturnal what gearing your club toward music and not making money is. Roly's party is their only livelihood. Twilo geared their Fridays toward DJs and 7.5 people showed up for the grand opening. Stryke is one of the best DJs this town has to offer and 3 people show up to his gigs.
The reason places like Prive, Mint, Opium, Nikki Beach, Mansion, etc, all make money is because they are the "see and be seen" crowd. Although Mansion seems to be changing that, as of late. |

it;s true about the "see and be seen" comment because I have only seen that in Miami.
All other major cities bring in any DJ's.. for jeebus sake.. I think Above and Beyond has played in Seattle Washington??
wtf is that??????????
Not in Miami?
LA SAN FRAN ... TORONTO.. DAMMIT EVEN DALLAS TEXAS has had more wicked line ups than Miami. |

You can not compare Spirits to The party on friday night by Addictive.
You guys fail to read my post clearly.
PEOPLE DOWN HERE WILL NEVERRRRRRRRR EVER SUPPORT SMALLER DJ's.
Let's make this like pee wee herman. Word of the day is SMALLER DJ's
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
You have ppl that listen to the music willing to drive all the way to ft laud to see the same dj's every fuking weekend? Instead of supporting smaller dj's?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Give me a break.
Weekly's always fail because how often can they seriously change up the tracklist.
Plus I went to Spirits once. I hated it. The white ppl up there are the biggest dorks ever. PvD @ Spirits.. or PvD @ Space?? Compareable?? I think so.
I agree there needs to be a street team. I didn't read anymore of your posts then the first paragraphs at both.
But venue has almost nothing to do with it. Trust me. You really think if it was at PAWN SHOP ppl would have gone? Helloooooooo. Did u see how fast Rank 1 cleared out an already packed room. |
Bro, you're missing a point that av1 elaborated to. Area 51/AD/whatever it's called has amassed a rather infamous reputation. Even you know that. Not hating, just being straight up. How about that night when Relik, Eric and Suzy were all supposed to play, and Relik is the only one who got to play? We got canned early by some jackoff who looked more like Jerry Springer Trailor Park Trash than anything.
And Rank 1 cleared out Pawn Shop because that place was not made for trance at all. Now that I look back on it, I should have asked Piet to play a housier set (because he DOES play house sets as well) but on the other hand, I would have deprived the few TAs who did come to see the event I helped put together of the great sound he plays.
Also, in case it hasn't been painfully obvious already, there has YET to be a review from TB @ Adrenaline. Not one single post that I've been able to find. That alone tells you something about the place and/or who's in charge of it.

What a horrid point AV1 was trying to make.
The promoter when eric and suzy were there was another promoter who didn't even have cdj's.
reputations on the club DONT MATTER what don't you get?
You really think if this party was elsewhere you'd ppl actually go?
So many of u ride on GA's it's quite disturbing. If u guys like the broward crowd.. then i'm all for it. I persoanlly hate it and i'm close to the border!!!!
What happened to JOOF that night at w/e club in broward?? The venue doesn't have a reputation? The party... FLOPPED
Give me a break.
If you guys aren't dick riding Eric's parties [which WOULD be empty if it weren't packed with TA"s] you guys would see this.
I know it's not gonna be packed to the bone. Hell it's Thomas. But all of you are at fault too.
Don't compalin about the scene then if you guys are going to whine about a NEW promoter bringing in TALENT NEVER HEARD OF DOWN HERE
[which i'm not making a big deal cuz he is my boyfriend cuz Thomas already played here at BLUE in July opening for Eric.. which was fun and great time and few of you ppl got to hear him already] I'm just trying to make a point :D |

That review going up just now is defintely NO coincidence.
With every post someone makes stating a point, fact, opinion or whatever, you're gonna argue this one out on and on because that's just how you are. Known you for going on 3 years now. That being said, I'm done making my points. Success is all I want for you and TD, but I'm done here. That is all.

and i'm gonna be blunt back.
you wanna make a personal attack at me?
Please. You're an "internet hopeless romantic" who has a one sided view on EVERYTHING.
Even the music you "love"
I have made points and facts. You guys act like any other TRANCE party in MIAMI [that does not include the big names] is ANY DIFFERENT.
I highly doubt BLUE would be packed if it weren't for TA's
Let alone a venue of double it's size.
Give me a break. Bashing just this party is ridiculous. |

I am sure Melly would not be mad at you for stating your opinion DA. And let me be clear that nothing I said was meant to be negative to anyone at all. Just an honest opinion, which everyone is free to agree or disagree with.
In the end they can keep this party wherever they choose, but without better promotions they are going to have issues with turnout irrespective of where they do it. And why not change the night to Saturday? I will support the events when time, energy and circumstances allow it because I want these events to do good so that we may someday get better bookings such as Tyas, SVD, Marco V, etc. This Friday I wanted to and would have gone to see Bronzwaer but could not because I was dead tired after happy hour and my better judgment kept me home and safe. And yes it is sad that the home of WMC has less year-round variety than most US cities when it comes to trance bookings. |

i don't give 3 flying fuks what anyone thinks about me.. Which is usually why ALL my thread become like 900 pages.
Either way.
If you want to come out and support. Then that's great for you.
For those of you that don't. I shall remind you when you bitch moan and whine about omgggg they never bring "so and so" down.
You guys don't let this NEW promoter even try! |

AV1 posted the best reply here.
Anyone who thinks NYC, L.A., or Chicago dont have a lot of "see or be seen" parties doesnt know these cities well enough.
Miami is actually no different than most of the world's major cities.
Blank & Jones were brought up in this topic. Why not ask B&J how often they play in Berlin? or Frankfurt? or Munich? Three of the leading EDM scenes in Germany, where B&J are from, and they never play there. Frankfurt and Berlin are huge on Techno and minimal as far booking DJs (with the exception of the Euphonic parties and PVD parties in Berlin, and Talla's parties in Frankfurt) while Munich is big on Electro and House. The only agency in Munich that brings the big acts on occasion is World League.
And how often do B&J play in the UK for that matter?
Or when was the last time Armin Van Buuren, the number 2 DJ in the world, played in Paris, or Rome, or Frankfurt? The answer is...never!:eyes:
Seattle, like a handful of other American cities, has a very strong EDM scene with well known promoters who have been in the game for ages. Just like Atlanta has Liquified, a promoter that can rival any promoter in Miami, NYC, or L.A., or just like Cali has the Spundae parties. Certain people/agencies know what it takes when it comes to taking promotions to the next level. They know how to hit the market hard, and have established a huge regional following that'll turn up at their events.
As for a new night, here's whats true for ANY city.
The key to starting a new night is either by starting off with a bang and bringing in the world's leading DJs every week (or doing a monthly) for at least 2-3 months straight. After that, you hope to build a strong enough reputation that the crowd will show up even on weekends where the not so well known DJs are booked. In the UK this is done by booking 2-3 of the up and coming DJs together, and billing it as a "Nu Breed" night.
Another option, which is more common, is booking a solid resident or two that have established themselves in the market. This is EXACTLY what Spirits has done, and this is exactly what most of the crowd enjoys. They like for the residents to play a lot of the same records for a few weeks/months - that builds up hits that are associated with a certain club, or a certain scene. Anyone that went to Shadow Lounge back in the day will instantly associate certain records with that club. So yeah, people DO want to hear the same records for a while.
Once the resident night is established, you can start bringing in some lesser known DJs as guests on occasion, or on the flipside you can create bigger than life special evets by booking some of the scene's leading DJs to play alongside the resident.
The third option is what Groove Eric is doing, and that is to smartly build up a reputation from the ground up. You start things with a grass roots approach and you work your way up to more bookings, bigger venues, and most importantly bigger crowds.
You can be an amazing DJ on the decks (Chris Liebing anyone? Eddie Halliwell?) or a fantastic producer (Alex M.O.R.P.H, Hybrid, etc) but for you to spin out of town, even if you get bookings, you need to be booked by the right clubs. Clubs that know how to create successful club nights.
Simply putting an ad in a local weekly paper, and posting on a couple of online forums, won't get you very far as others have rightly so pointed out. |
