| arrgg, i can post so ing much on this issue it's not even funny. Those talking about name recognition and venue ofcourse have a good point. Take this past friday for example. I had the option of going to see TB, or George Acosta and EV at Spirits. Location is to me, I dont' care. It takes me 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic to get to Hard Rock. I KNEW THAT THE PARTY AT ADRENALINE WAS GOING TO BE A FLOP. I KNEW, THAT THE PARTY AT SPIRITS WAS GOING TO BE A BLAST. And a blast it was. I had been to Spirits the last two weeks since this party's inception so I knew it was going to own. That decision was a matter of a number of things which av1 mentions in his first post on this thread. Mel, I honestly think the trance scene is going to make it here what with all these parties we are having now. Props to that new promoter or owner of Adrenaline Room for bringing the trance parties here. Hell I went there when they threw that party with Suzy and Edgar. Recognize the names??? Hell yes. And i knew that they were going to throw it down nastay. I dont' really know how known TB is. If Jazzid for example brings in SvD or Johan Gielen, I'll be there in a sec since THEY'RE NEVER HERE. In this case, I knew TB is never here, but those are the decisions. arrggggggg support bitches....i'll stop there. |

| I think many people that posted here made a valid point somewhere, depends on how you look at it. You have to look at the big picture. Collen was telling me the venue looks nice, even though I would take her word for it. But everyone I know wouldnt go there, even if they offered blowjobs at the door. IMO they should demolish that place and re-locate. And start a new name somewhere else, if they want to stay in business... Its a shame really good producer/dj's do not get the credit they deserve. As for this Friday, dont count me there. I would be there when someone comes back, and thats because I made a promise, and thats if they come again... |

the trance scene will never make it if the only ppl who do listen don't even support WHEREVER A PARTY IS THROWN.

you know the funny thing is that 80% of this conversation is based on a mishandling of information.
ill make a few things clear, for my party, and for thomas's as well as for any other party happening in the area 51 venue
1- THE VENUE IS NOT METROPOLIS ANYMORE. Mandy sold each of the 5 rooms to different owners and is more of a landlord than an owner right now. it doesnt matter if the dj's bring in 2 cents or 20000, he still gets his rent money, and its all good.
2- THE VENUES HAVE BEEN SOLD TO YOUNGER OWNERS/INVESTORS. I for one know who the owner of Adrenaline and the guy has always wanted to open up his own bar/nightclub. unfortunately a bartender can help shape a vision of the club, but its his employees that help realize that vision. without the proper direction and marketing, these clubs will be exactly what u remember OR THINK you remember them to be... connected to shootings/bad crowds/overpricing/etc.
3- EACH ROOM IS A SEPARATE ENTITY. I will make this as clear as possible so there are no discrepencies in future arguments.. NILE, ARENA, ALLURE, ADRENALINE, and MONTECRISTO are 5 separate venues that are joined together under one roof. after Mandy made the decision to sell the rooms to different owners and investors, they furnished each room with their own bathrooms and staff as well as decor, each giving off a different vibe and attracting a different crowd. Each room is also closed in, meaning it is not open to any other room in the club unless agreed on that night by the rooms themselves.
4- EACH ROOM HAS THEIR OWN BOOKING AND PROMOTIONAL TEAM. This i need to stress because as each room works as its own separate entity, they have their own lighting/flyer/marketing people. should a party bomb, do not blame the club..blame the party for not getting the word out enough. the party meaning the promotional team, the marketing director, and the club management themselves in some cases for not getting their own clubs word out. If they really wanted to make the night a success, they would have professionals do this type of work instead of relying on eflyers on message boards to attract more than 20 people. then people argue on how the venue sucks because no one goes.

I fail to dance sometimes so I blame myself also, but seriously.. talking vibe terms, thats all it takes, 10 people dancing or 3 w.e. ... its the vibe what makes a party great, not the venue or DJ ( Big DJ's carry this big vibe with them with all the euphoric fans )
I remember I saw Darude and Scott Bond at this club.. Neerve I think it was??.. there were 15 peeps dancing ( including myself ).. hell of fun, same with Sonar, people would go there and dance their ass off.. it was great, so to me Venue dont count, its the vibe that people bring into the place. Old warehouse party's or raves were all good because of that.. it could have taken place in a ty place with an unknown DJ or very local DJ and those parties rocked the heck out.
So through observation, I think that thats whats lacking, everyone has lost the spirit of going out and wanting to experience that .... I think .. other then that, all other comments have their own, strong valid points, they all fit into the equation. Now a days people dont really dance they just stand around.. I dont see it anymore.. thats what pumps me up, the vibe, where-ever that may be.
Paul van Dyk can be throwing an awesome set at the best venue, but if no one its got the vibe.. that kills it.. mmm that makes sense?

If it wasn't for a four hour plus drive and the cost of a hotel room to stay the night Terry and I would definitely make the trip down. I've been sick since last week so my ass wasn't going anywhere, but even if I didn't have the flu I still wouldn't have been able to afford to see Thomas (Bronzwaer) this past weekend. I wish you guys were closer to us. Melly, I would love to see you and Thomas this weekend. :(
This is exactly the reason why we plan on going to see PvD here in February. Sure he's going to be at a club that I'm not exactly fond of, but if no one comes out to support him (and the scene) why should they book anyone else in the future? I always hope and pray that another venue will take notice of the interest in trance and edm and book artists as well. |
