i'm confused... you are saying that he sold the rooms but at the end you say that he collects his rent money? rent money for the rooms? so did he sell it or rent it out? if he did rent out it out then he still owe's lots of people money and they will refer to the place as metropolis as long as he owns it.
its a bad rep for the newcomers that want to change things, but thats the way it goes... |

bro all this 'THEY' I keep hearing... and nobody comes forward and flat out says u know what..he owes me this much, and i need it. you know why? because it will be useless to say that on a messageboard when they can grow a pair of balls..walk over to the venue where he is there daily (i know, because he was there today) and prove he owes you that money.
contracts also go a long way, especially when it involves figures. people don't want to give themselves a minimum they have to bring in as far as revenue but then they get pisse dwhen they have a turnout becuase the venue gives them one night to prove the crowds wrong, but don't promote it.
the house always wins. remember that every time u see these big dj's getting paid massive amounts of money. the house STILL wins with them. they are under contract. i wonder why they dont get owed money...
and yes. mandy has obtained young owners who have bought the room from him, and pay an overhead fee for the upkeep and such of the venue (or rent, if i am not mistaken). each room has a target audience on each night and whether they make 2 bux or 2 million they still have to pay for the room they use. |

Then thats the risk you take. Noone can predict a bad ass set or a ty set.Thats the way it goes but "PAYING" is "ONE WAY" of supporting the scene and DJ's.After all DJing is a job.
I remember last year or 2 years ago for conference for a Steve Lawler party I paid like $50 at SPIN and I was pissed as ,that party was all hype and atleast to me it didn't deliver,thats what I get for giving that party such high expectations and was very disappointed.But it life moves on it's $50 not like I have paid that before to see other dj's and so on. If it is a local dj even better,you're helping a friend out, thats the way you have to look at it.
I've gone to the Hardrock where a friend of mines spins and im on the list but there has been times when the door is a mess and the list is there but isnt there,I say the BS and just pay,I see it as that money is going into the dj's pocket.Also back in the days when I use to attend the Lunar session at the old Space,promoter Biz would hook me up and put me on Roland's list good till 4 am and then when he moved to Nocturnal for the Local Celeberty party he put me on a list that was reduced,think im going to bitch? Gotta give back sometimes also.
Im not picking on you kid,theres one too many of free loaders out there that want and want but dont give.Can't be like that. |

i dont care if i have to pay, i'm only pissed that a lot of the lists end at 12 and i cant take advantage of it because i get off work at 12:15. its mainly my fault because i choose to work the night schedule but now i have asked for the day schedule because working nights suck ass.
in all regards, lets stop hijacking the thread and lets hope that Thomas Datt and Ariel G play great so melly doesnt get upset at me. ;) |

4- EACH ROOM HAS THEIR OWN BOOKING AND PROMOTIONAL TEAM. This i need to stress because as each room works as its own separate entity, they have their own lighting/flyer/marketing people. should a party bomb, do not blame the club..blame the party for not getting the word out enough. the party meaning the promotional team, the marketing director, and the club management themselves in some cases for not getting their own clubs word out. If they really wanted to make the night a success, they would have professionals do this type of work instead of relying on eflyers on message boards to attract more than 20 people. then people argue on how the venue sucks because no one goes.
