Ah...yes I completely agree with the choice theory.
But I don't agree with Urban's absolute uncompromising standing on this. Besides I find it hard to believe that if a girl you found extremely attractive jumped on you naked (who knows could happen), you'd be able to control your urges...and I still think people do make mistakes - it's how they deal with the consequences that makes all the difference.
And yes, communication is key. |
If a naked girl jumps on me and she is drop dead and it has happened while I was in a relationship the first thing that would come to my mind is my GIRLFRIEND, not how much I woudl like to bang the hottie in front of me. I have turned it down and been ridiculed for it but I know I am the better person.
I don't know if your a guy or girl starsearcher but I feel bad for your significant others.
And to comment about conquences, there should never have to be any.
Wow just so appauled at the stupidity.........I understand its your opinion but wow, you are the kind of people that ruin it for everyone else. |

As for rj's choice theory, that is why I stay single... because I would only be in a relationship with someone that I had those intentions (to forever love and be attracted to that partner) with and trust me, I think that person is nothing short of a fairytale. |
100% agree...lately I feel that way too.
Evil or Urban, I wonder, would you forgive the girl you love with all your heart if she cheated on you? I'm not trying to make any points or anything I'm just curious. |

None taken but read carefully what I wrote.... I said, "I certainly don't [need to partner up]".
I didn't say I didn't want to.
On the contrary, I would love to be swept off my feet and then spend the rest of my life building a solid relationship with bricks of love, laughter, support, care, wicked sex, tears, knowledge, experience, comfort, drama, friendship, debate, reliance, personal growth and so much more but it is seemingly unattainable for many of the reasons in this thread.

My bad Rachel, your right, I don't need it either but life is so much better whne you have it. Individuals do scare you away from the idea though, I was engaged, she left me for a rich older guy. tainted. I was lied to so badly in my last relationship and had the wool totally pullen over my eyes and then was left fielded. Nothing hurts more than rejected love, and I have broken 31 bones in my body. |

Living without a husband does not equal living alone.
If you included common-law / co-habitation relationships I'm sure the 51% would drop significantly.
I think men and women are now sensible enough to engage in the marriage process much more rationally (via prior common-law / co-habituation). Today there isn't the same social forces at work not permitting pre-marital habitation, etc - so people are more likely to engage in it.
I suspect just a many people are "partnering up" but they're not doing it in the marriage way. |
well, i think that's what the article is trying to say. people just aren't getting married. why marry, when you can live with a person without any extra commitment?
i think it also extends the dating process and that is why women are getting married later. if you date/move in/move out/date/move in/move out/date/move in/get married it takes much more time to test out your partner that way. if you just date/date/date/get married you would get married much faster. |

Nope not at all. unless she was drugged and had no conception of what was going on. Its common sense. Oops I am going to have sex, who do I usually do this with? Oh ya, I probably shouldnt do this because it would kill the other person. Its all about RESPECT. And that is showing a total lack of it. |

Aha, that is a whole other kettle of fish.
I always said I would NEVER forgive infidelity but a girl I used to work with, just before she got married, said, "I adore Sean with all my heart and I hope to goodness that he would never hurt me by cheating but, if he did, I believe that I would be able to forgive him".
I thought she was mental. Then I got a few years older and wondered if it would be worth breaking up a family for. I am not programmed to cheat. I would find it impossible BUT could I forgive being cheated on? I genuinely don't know. |

AHA! So now I see where you're coming from. You've personally experienced it and you know what it's like. Unfortunately however this is the reality isn't it? Yeah it sucks...I agree, but that's what it is. Don't we hear about stories like these all the time?
Don't say I ruin it for everyone, I'm not the one cheating. I haven't convinced anyone to cheat on anyone either. I'm just talking about human nature - and it's ty. (PS I know lots of girls that cheat). |

By her saying that it shows weakness. Plus she is saying that without it happening, its completely different when it does happen to you, trust me you'll never have been so mad. |

I know you are talking about human nature but you are also talking about making the wrong dissision and being weak by giving in. If someone is in front of you naked and you do it then you know your not with the right perso however out of respect you shoudl decline and go home, talk to your other partner and make a discision based on that. |

I 100% disagree...if you love someone, and I mean REALLY love someone, your love should be unconditional. Besides I completely understand what Rachel is talking about, and would agree with her. There are too many ifs generally, but I could see myself forgiving. |
