Evil or Urban, I wonder, would you forgive the girl you love with all your heart if she cheated on you? I'm not trying to make any points or anything I'm just curious. |
Hmmmm... Quite honestly, it's a hard question to answer.
I have hard time giving my trust again to people who broke the trust I gave them.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me rule applies to me...
I admit that I've never been in a serious relationship so I don't know exactly what it feels to love a person with all your soul and heart.
But, knowing myself, it'll always be in mind that if a girl cheats on me, it is possible that she might cheat on me again and that would hold me back. Certainly would rule out marriage where there has to be a total trust between the couple.
Cheating on me tells me that she does not respect me or love me enough to say no, and shows a lack of integrity on her part.
I guess I'm a bit old fashioned. |

I'm just saying hypothetically...I've seen it happen at clubs and house parties before...people are drunk off their minds and could happen. |

it happens, I was at a work party I was walking by the restroom and one of my fellow employees jumped on me. I never put my self there. Plus people take advantage of situations. I was invited up to a hotel room after a long night for a joint and a drink. We smoked a joint and had a glass of wine, we even talked about my GIrlfriend! She went to the washroom, came out naked and wanted it. Well I turned it down and left right away. I know it sounds dumb and so many dood swill ridicule me for it but thats just not the way things go down in my book. |

I 100% disagree...if you love someone, and I mean REALLY love someone, your love should be unconditional. Besides I completely understand what Rachel is talking about, and would agree with her. There are too many ifs generally, but I could see myself forgiving. |
Ok. So how many second chances would you give?
By your reasoning, it should be forever if you love someone unconditionally. |

That's a good way of putting it...it always lingers in your mind eating away at you...and I agree about trust. I personally find it hard trusting people as well and if they break that trust it's really hard to gain it again. I don't think you're old fashioned really |

Forgiveness? I think one needs to be conscious of the damage (short and long term) that infidelity inflicts on a relationship.
Forgiveness aside - repairing the damage done is much more difficult than simply coming to terms and "forgiving" the person.
The damage done by infidelity is nearly unrepairable - so even with forgiveness the relationship usually doesn't thrive.
Infidelity is NOT just a physical act. It attacks the very core foundation of a relationship (values, trust, respect, intimacy, etc, etc). |

Its ok to be that too, I am as well. I have been in love and it is the greatest feeling on earth when you just have that moment of silence with your partner you look into each others eyes and all your love, and I mean all of it comes rushing on. getting lied to or even cheated on is the worst feeling ever. No respect it makes you think al kinds of things and you never know what is the right answer anymore because you dont know what to believe. |

No, not old fashioned, I wholeheartedly agree with you BUT, I think what my colleague was saying was that relationships are so disposable these days but she would like to think that it would take something more than a physical act to break up a family home. Again, I am not saying I agree, I truly don't know what I would think.
I can remember the Friends episode, the one with the list of 5 famous people each of them were 'allowed' to sleep with if they ever had the chance, I also remember being disgusted at that notion and everyone around me thinking I was mental. My argument was that cheating is cheating, regardless of whether it is with Fat Pat from down the pub or Cindy Crawford. |

| Now here is a good question, if your partner lies to you or cheats on you and you break up can you remain friends? Because really your friends shouldnt lie to you either? |

True...maybe then love forever but not forgive? I think people should be given second chances though under the right circumstances. I mean obviously not give chances to someone that'd cheat constantly...but as I said before I think people make mistakes.
By the way, just for the record, how do we define infidelity and cheating? Is it as far as sex? Or making out? Or... |

Hmmm I don't usually stay friends with my ex's, only with one so far, and it took a long period of "getting over" each other till we started talking and hanging out again. Mind you nobody cheated on anyone, it just wasn't working out any more. |
