I have truly loved 3 men in my life (not including friends/family) and no, I didn't maintain a friendship post-relationship. Not because they cheated but because of the same reasons we couldn't continue a relationship.

To me, serious friendships are almost as involved as relationships.

how do we define infidelity and cheating?

Two types: Physical & Emotional.

True...maybe then love forever but not forgive? I think people should be given second chances though under the right circumstances. I mean obviously not give chances to someone that'd cheat constantly...but as I said before I think people make mistakes.

I think there's a big difference say, learning a new job and you make a mistake (unintentional) and cheating on someone. (intentional)

IMO when you're doing something intentional and knowing the likely consequences, it no longer is a mistake, but a deliberate... wrongdoing.

By the way, just for the record, how do we define infidelity and cheating? Is it as far as sex? Or making out? Or...

I think that differs from person to person.

For me, sex is a definite no no.

As to making out with someone else, depends on the drunk level. (And I'd be annoyed at her for being so drunk that she's doing stupid things)

I would be more heartbroken to know that my partner loved someone else rather than physical cheating.

I think the key here is....

INTENT

The intent of the actions or emotions would be the deal breaker for me.

I would have to agree as well...emotional is way worse than physical.

this is not the same situation. she wasn't naked was she?

What did you think was going to happen in the hotel room? lol! Did you really need that joint? You did put yourself into that situation.

Yes she was naked, she was waiting for me.

Yah I guess, but again I just trusted her, not thinking anything was going to do that, she had been a friend for a little while, it was after a party she had gotten a hotel room so she didnt have to drive back. Again I clearly stated that I had a GF, I dont think I put myself into that situation at all.

Once a cheater always a cheater, once someone gets away with something they think they can do it all the time.

Ok I understand but everyone is missing my question, could you possibly be friends with tem afetrward at all knowing what you know and they had lied to you?

you can't possibly think that you had nothing to do with either of these situations. i am not saying you were completely at fault but seriously, men can't be that blind?

Well, he did say that he thought she was a friend.

A guy and a girl can be friends and go to places alone, no?

Alone in a hotel room to get high and drink? I don't think so.

Common sense man...

that's what i am saying. either, he gives of a vibe to women that he is available (co-worker incident) or that he doesn't mind getting some on the side (friend incident).

trust me, no woman would get naked in front of you if there was no possible chance that you would return the feeling.

i am saying men are blind to the whole thing. i don't blame them either, they just aren't looking for it. i have had the "you know she likes you a lot" convo with guys and they just have no idea. they don't pick up on the subtle hints.
