wow am i like the ONLY person who liked second sun??
the whole night was extremely enjoyable for me.
sander really killed it. i wouldve liked to have heard a few tracks he didnt play and NOT heard certain ones he did play. i mean COME ON!! control freak!?!? ive only heard that like EVERY time armin's been to town. by now that is just gross.
i liked second sun. it was different but it was cool. i didnt really feel it killed "the mood." i dunno maybe im more open to different kinds of things, or just easier to please. i didnt know much (i.e. anything) about them before this show but im way more interested now. plus they played a depeche mode cover as their encore and im a HUGE depeche mode fan so that didnt hurt either. |
no worries jay, i was right up there with ya, and i LOVED Second Sun!!! :toothless they were GREAT fun as always. been a huge fan since I heard them back at the Macademia Lounge at WMC 2005 :tongue2
When they dropped 'DREAM ON' by DM as the last song, I flipped -- i have been a fan of DM since 1987!!! :D Second Sun's ENERGY were DEF a welcome change from the usual dj set.
however, i do agree that they would probably have been BETTER as an opener...SVD was really good, but for some reason it took me a long time to actually start GETTING into the set/night...so SVD didn't wow me as much as he probably WOULD have if he had been in a later time slot. (btw i do agree about 'Control Freak' - nothing special there.) Overall, I actually preferred the sets that were posted on TA. STILL, he had some unbelievably GREAT moments before and after that...and i would DEFINITELY love to see him throw down in NYC again as a HEADLINER.
Markus -- ehh, well he hasn't really done it for me for awhile. I pretty much SAT out the last part of the night. Even his gig up at G2 at the Kool Haus/Toronto wasn't all that great compared to the rest of the lineup that night. Very happy to see that he got a great bday celebration...def can count on the NYTAs to pull thru with that :D
All in all, great seeing friends (finally met up with ya again Molly) and being able to go upstairs and chill. still can't say I like Pacha though. so far its been 3x that my experience there has been crap.

From what i was told, the reason you're not allowed to have gum is because people will spit it out on the floor and it will either get stuck to your shoes or to the floor which will be hard to clean up. Samething with the carpeted area.
Makes sense to me.
I think im gonna buy a P&S digi cam, since my dslr is too professional and i cant get in with it. |

sanders mixin was ridiculous...i was absolutely blown away when he came on and man did he play strong he had the entire club going crazy.
second sun i thought was really cool..they were definitely a lot of fun and entertaining...haha they know how to work the crowd tho i gotta say, they themselves were really energetic and i think thats what got a lot of people into it
markus....WOW one of the better live sets ive heard from him. definitely much better than the last appearance at spirit...he rocked it...sooo many nasty tracks. i didnt wanna stop dancing :)
lol i dunno really how to put it any better than in plain ass English but this night kicked so much ass. it was good meeting a few people too. good to see you again lyss! hope to continue to meet more of you guys im just the shy type lol
also great meeting andrew. he threw it down in the basement...i really enjoyed his stuff |

| I'm really surprises at how many people thought SS were THAT good. I mean I don't know but they remind me too much of Junkie XL in the sense that once you have seen them once....you have seen them a thousand times. To me, all their sets sound the same and never really fit between DJ sets which is why they should always be the opener. Not to mention the sounds was absolutely horrible when they were playing. |

Got there early and was impressed with but theres so many stairs that lead everywhere lol
What a awesome night to be able to this many DJ's in one night goes to show you ppl are spoil in NY. I loved Sander Van Doorn set, it went hard and he finished it nicley with Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down (Sander Van Doorns Bootleg Mix) and Joey aka Bitchboy was laughing at me and the other guys with the brown shirt (was he a TA member???) cause we knew all the lyrics.
I liked Second Suns set and during it it was more of chillin back and not so much dancing experince so I was fine with them playing but if they would have opened I would have enjoyed that too. But Antoine is sure crazy behind the decks and what surpised is that he was responable for the singing on The Spell and Crush.
Markus started out fine but after more than an hour he start playing iffy tracks and not going anywhere, mabie he needed to play atleast an hour more to actully end nicely. But he is better live but that can be said about any DJ's who has a radio show.
Overall I had a very great time with you ppl. Thanks for the ID's Brian and Sot. Only problem was that it got to hot at times. thanks Chaska for being an and giving me dirty looks ;) |
