So you think this nice high-rise that says "Brothel" in the center of Cologne is "illegal", it's just that "nobody wants to enforce the law"? hahaha

but of course, ignorance is bliss...

Um, Koln (or Cologne as you call it) is in Germany... Where it is legal... we have acknowledged this.

I think there is a large problem in your idea of legal. While there may be no statute prohibiting the acceptance of money as renumeration for sexual services in many countries that does not mean that prostitution is, in fact, legal. The exchange of sex and money is only one part of the overall activity of prostitution. Given that you bring up Canada and I know it best I will focus on that. Giving someone money as compensation for sex is not prohibited... true. What is illegal is solicitation and/or communication for the purposes of prostitution... which is to say there can be no agreement pertaining to the exchange of sex and money or any communication of any type referencing such an exchange or even the expectation of same. Effectively this makes prostitution illegal as no exchange of sex for money can be made without communication or agreement. Furthermore, living off the avails of prostitution is illegal in Canada. This is to say that one cannot use the money received in exchange for sex in order to live... essentially, that money can never be spent.... kind of makes it pointless. See, with these regulations in place prostitution as a business is effectively illegal. The reason there is no statute prohibiting the exchange of sex for money or services is because anything could constitute prostitution given those terms.

I really hope everyone isn't just now noticing that HTP is completely inept.

This spouting of unfounded, faux-intellectual rubbish has really been happening throughout the duration of his membership here.

lol WTF dude you don't even know me. I could have joked about how you quote yourself, but I'm not gonna stoop to your level. You guys are supposedly in your 20s but still act like children - like this guy Marc Summers whose first weapon against me is "you have a small dick" or whatever.

You're not making fun of me, you're making fun of yourselves here...and it's sad.

To my knowledge the only European countries where it is legal are Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.

I don't think he's completely inept, just acting on misunderstood information... probably propaganda produced by those who seek to legalize prostitution in the US.

FYI.... I'm all for legalized prostitution.

You are pulling facts from your ass man...c'mon now. Even if you con yourself into believing something it doesn't make it fact. Man, they even don't make idiots like they used to anymore:(

The question one must ask is... if not for commiting the act to film would the production companies still pay these people to have sex? Clearly, they would not. As such, they are being paid to have their image used in a film rather then to simply engage in sexual acts, therefore, what they are being paid for is not sex, argo, not prostitutes.

I think the ultimate answer lies in law.... working in adult films does not qualify as prostitution under the legal definition (in Canada or the US anyway).

Agreed. The question of what a person is being paid "for" is a question of motivation - in particular, the motivation of the person doing the paying.

In this case, the ultimate objective of the person doing the paying is not for the pornographic actor or actress to engage in intercourse, but rather it is to obtain profit through selling the product which is being produced. Consequently, it is not entirely accurate to say that the act of sex is what is being "paid for."
