great night, great vibe, many tas & friends in the crowd. you could tell steve and aruna were really enjoying themselves like it was their party and not just 'their gig'. taj really went head over heels to take care of the ta crew. quote of the night: taj at the front of a long door line proclaiming to security "these are all tranceaddicts, they're good, they're with me..." (all 14 of us) :gsmile:
missing taj, ish and nancy! :whip:
ugh, i need to make a gallery page for all these :nervous: :nervous: :toothless |

I cant believe how much of a night owl I've become..
Gilbert told me about Picassa, so Ima be using that later today when I have some down time between finding another job, and checking out more new stuff that arrived yesterday before I left...
Theres nothing that I can really say to anyone but thanks for allowing me to showcase my skills to all of you. Everyone who showed up, on my guestlist, and at the event.. shows me that I need to work harder on my next show. I was actually happy to see a line that was going around the side of the building, and people waiting to get in off of my guestlist.
Alot of you came up to me Saturday and said I did an awsome job and stuff, which means alot to me. If I make one person listening to my sets feel something, thats worth it to me...
Ill be sure of one thing... If you all keep dancin, Ill keep playin..I wont dissapoint. Thanks everyone..
This coming weekend for Above & Beyond, be sure to tune into the screens... Ill have another feature video coming, showcasing next months event. The annoucement should be made also within the week or so.. Watch for the post!!!
Great photos from everyone. Once I get mine up on that picassa thing, ill be showin em here too.
Feel free to leave comments or anything on Saturday folks!
See everyone Saturday for Above & Beyond!!!

I had a blast Saturday night! The dinner was awesome as usual. I really enjoy being able to socialize with TAs outside of the club environment, fun times. Thank god we were able to get the regular menu :wtf: haha. I loved how Alex took over the dj booth at the restaurant and pumped out some trance tunes. Fine dining + trance music FTW! :D
Steve delivered!! He went above and beyond my expectations. 1015 was pretty damn packed too!
TAJ awesome closing set as usual, you kept the energy alive! :P -- Thank you for the speedy entry too. The line was wrapped around the building when we arrived a bit after 11pm.
See you all next Saturday! |

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT!!!!! :eyes:
From start until finish it was AWESOME!
Dinner was fun and GOOD! The trance music at dinner is what made it for me. I cant remember the last time (if ever) that I was out at a public restaurant while listening to EDM. The paella was reaaaaaallly good. Then Thomas Phan stole the show when he brought in Aruna. :eyes:WOW:eyes: Must have been a sweet car ride! ;) The TA pic was great as well, almost everyone in attendance at dinner ::cough::BLURR::cough:: :happy2:
Speaking of...Blurr I thought your opening set was dope. Great tracks and very epic! No complaints from me! My buddy Kurt said also that he really liked your style and all the trance you dropped. The "Out of the Blue (___remix)" you dropped surprised me because I couldnt tell that it was Out of the Blue until the main part came on. Maybe I was just too F'd up to ID it at the time
THRILLSEEKERS WAS NUTS!!!!     This was the first time I saw him live and he just OWNED! Ridiculous energy and the vocals he dropped gave me goosebumps many times. Nice and fun guy, loved his mannerisms on the decks. Plus he ended his set with Beautiful and that song really needs no explanation.:D
Taj, AS USUAL your closing set was BANGING!:eyespop: :eyespop: Thanks for droppin the Ronald van Gelderen tracks, way better listening to them at the club than on my laptop! CRAZY TRACKS! You definitely impressed my friend Kurt and broke him in nicely. He's looking forward to your opener for Ferry. And thanks again for gettin all the TAs in after dinner. I know you were taking crap for it from the security guy.
And to whom it may concern: BALLS! (inside joke) |

Yet another fabulous Saturday night at 1015. It was of course great to see all you fellow TAs in attendance. Had a stressful night before getting there but that feeling quickly went away once wearrived to 1015 and saw everyone. Wish we could've seen more of Thrillseekers set, the last 15 min. or so we saw really picked us up and got us ready for Taj's banging set. OMG those techno tracks you played, DAMN!!!!!!!! You gotta give me a copy of that set.
Wish we coulda made it to dinner but it was too late. We can go if it's before 8pm but anything after we cannot. We're supposed to be at work at 6pm and getting there 2 to 3 hours late is okay but 4 hours is pushing it. See you guys again soon!!!!!:D |

The "very epic" part is where Blurr had issues, IMO. He started off with epic and fast, which isn't what an opener should be doing, IMO, especially that early in the set -- like 11:25pm. IMO, you have to build up the night. That's the job of an opener, IMO. IMO IMO IMO IMO IMO.
Let me put it this way. For the first good while of his set, people were just standing in front of the booth...it's hard for more people to come in and be nailed with that type of music and just jump into it. Some people can, most people can't. It wasn't that the music wasn't good...it's not about that at all, it's about setting the setup to ease the crowd into it and so the it doesn't hit them like a freight train. That's a reason why progression is so, so important.
You don't want the energy to come down when the headliner comes on and you don't want to wear out the crowd before the night even peaks. And you don't want to really focus on a style, IMO, that the headliner is going to play a lot of....IMO. That can cause crowd to grow tired of that type of music by the peak hour. There are so many reasons why an opener is so crucial and in many ways is more difficult than being just the headliner. But everything I can explain is just IMO...hehe...
An opener has the possibility of making the headliners set even better. The headliner can play two different nights, each with different openers (who approach the night differently), and play the exact same set each night. I guarantee you that you'll come home with a different review of the headliner on one night compared to the other...and a large part of the influence will be the mindset the opener got you in leading into the headliners.
I'm personally petrified of ever opening up....cause I say all this and fear I will fail lol. Why I want to start things slow and do the small rooms lol. |

OK, Sunday night I actually decided to spend some time on making a video full of effects and stuff. I spent about 5 hours editing together like a 4 minute video that was full of effects...strobes, glows, ripples, etc...it took so long because I had it going perfectly with the music.
It was going to take about 4 hours to render so I went to sleep.
Only to wake up with my laptop having a blue screen of death on it. I rebooted the machine, and my project files were corrupted....which means it probably blue screened during an auto-save.
I ain't doing all that again, lol...so I'll work on getting regular ole clips as I have time. Here's a 640x360 FLV for now. Uploading a 960x540 WMV version of it (didn't make it a full 720p to save time).
(posted clips on new posteed since this page of the thread is content heavy for most.) |
