Just got home like an hour ago from Lawler/Zone!!
Lawler is FKN GOD! I really enjoyed his set! All of it! Got a chance to meet him as well...was very happy about that :)
I would like to metnion that the guy that opened for him( I forgot his name) SUCKED BALLS!!! Wow....everybody was getting pissed and asking all of our locals up on the stage to tell him to change it/pick it up!!! Brutal!!
Desyn was a no-show! :( Lawler told me that he was sick or something-just wasn't feeling well which sux b/c I was really looking forward to Desyn's set!
It was soooooo packed up there...barely got any room to dance.................was busy like that till the end.....grr!!
Zone was ridiculous- Best set was from Joee Cons... :)
Ok well I'm off to bed :)

i was beginning to wonder if i'd made a mistake in deciding to go to this after desyn mysteriously disappeared off of the lineup, as that was the reason i had decided to go for the whole night. then i was REALLY beginning to think i had made a horrible decision around 2 am when the main room had filled up (it was tolerable up until then) and there was no spot that i could find to dance without having someone push by me every 5 seconds. was reminded of just why i never go to guv anymore. however, a text telling me to come upstairs where the gold club lounge used to be solved all my problems, as a) there was tons of space to dance and b) it was NOT hot up there. hallelujah!!!! was only able to enjoy this newfound space for an hour, because we decided to head up to skybar at 3:30 in order to avoid the mad rush after lawler's set was done at 4:00. it was super crowded up there and pushy but we managed to find a space right by the bar at the front that wasn't too busy. getting through the crowd to the washrooms was an ordeal that i didn't want to repeat though! ing hell.
i LOVED the skybar set, particularly the last hour, as he kicked the music up a notch and the space was less crowded. i always like his "after party" sets better than the main room peak time ones - just something more funky about them. he played until 8 am, when, as already noted, he said he was "too ed" to continue. to be honest, i was glad it ended when it did, as i was exhausted and the old body was in a lot of pain!
so, i did end up having an awesome time, despite my misgivings. the weather was beautiful, and i felt that it was better musically than last year. of course, it will never beat the first one with sasha. ;) :p
it was also great running into so many people that i've not seen out in ages. good times!
ps. i really liked whoever was on at 3:30 on the skybar. i believe it was carlo lio??? i dunno. oliver macgregor was pretty good as well. also, i hate that hydraulic dj booth in the main room. so annoying! what's the point of moving it closer to the dancefloor, if you're gonna raise it up practically to the level it was before? the renovations do look nice though.
also - special thanks to FRANCESCO for putting a smile on my face every time i saw you! your canada day ensemble was pretty awesome. ;) |

It was an awesome night. Got there at like..1030. Main room was spinning i dunno..what sounded to me like older house..almost elavator music i found..kinda felt it a bit then walked around.
Each room deffinetely felt an atmostphere and i liked going into the orange room and not hearing crappy hip hop djs spinning mashups. EDM worked in that room, strobe + orange + lots of space + little circle near kool haus entrance rocked :D Some nice beats i heard there from...11-1130ish.
Walked around, then went to the patio and met several TA's :D Thanks for the birthday wishes again and was nice meeting each and everyone of you! :D
Then at 130 headed up to the skybar, was good, not too crowded.
Then went to the main room for Lawler's set. DDAMMMNNNNN kk i knew lawler was a good dj, so i was hyped but i had no idea what he even played/any "famous" tracks so i went there in the dark and !!!!! Guv mixed with cozone feeling FTW!!!! seriously suuuuuchchhh ddiiiirrrrtttyyyyy bass and o man, love the lasers as usual! I liked the laser set up today vs eddie halliwell. Seems like much more and that one laser effect where it put thousands of dots around hte room. !!! WOOOOOWWW! looked sick and made me wish i had some high MP video camera that could capture the lighting of hte room EXACTLY as i saw it so i could trip out to it any time i wish because the lightshows were just ffccuukkkiinnng insane!!! + Smoke! gotta love the white smoke! :D:D:D
Umm some time passed, went into the drink quickly at like...330ish and heard some really nice tunes that made me wish i could install rogers pause/rewind live TV and hear each and every dj spin because i felt everyone was impressive last night.
Then i chilled in the tanja till 4ish AM and got to hear whichever dj was spinning in the orange room! :D Enjoyed kicking back to some good beats with new friends.
Was in the drink again around 5 and heard a cool remix of Fedde le grande - hands up for detroit. and a CRAAZZYYYY remix to a bryan adams songs. Completely forget the song except i know it was a perfect farwell to the dark as i headed up to the skybar for the remainder of hte night.
DDAMAMNNN was it packed but aside from the 'pathways' ppl created, not much shoving i found. But sketch factor was...well literally through and on top of the roof in full effect. Anyone else find the suppppppeerrrr sketch didnt have sunglasses? saw some very messed up faces and loved the realization half way through that all the sketch sketch sketch faces were the same sketch sketch sketch ppl i see at cozone......i wouldnt mind without thats for sure...umm shirtless guys were there in pretty full effect...and no boys town to restrain em...bahhh
Overall great set i found, thought it was kinda cool but found i was talking instead of listening/dancing to the earlier part of lawler's sunrise set because it was pretty mellow. But when it picked up i didnt stop dancing till the end...then the end and the 1 more end :D
i managed to thank every bouncer/security guard from the skybar - leaving the building for their help/hosting...except 2 were rude and 1) interupted me and said leave now 2) stretched out his hand to shut me up in a "talk to the hand" motion...pffft i was being nice those bastards....oh and after asking 5 security guards and 2 coat check guys. only 1 actually liked listening to EDM. hjaha thought that was pretty interesting..no wonder some seem like they will go postal any second. |

| I couldnt have asked for more out of a party then what I got last night...Got to see two sides of Lawler...Deep and chunky in the main room...Then a little more mellow set on Skybar but still had the essentials to own the place with every track he dropped!! Lawler is the king!! And him saying "They want me to stop, but I'm gonna play one more because I'm absolutely ed" Classic Love it!! |

We knew beforehand that Desyn wasn't listed on the DJ timeslot from chinamon. A lot of us were aware he wasn't going to be there. I wanted to see him so badly go back2back with Lawler at the Skybar sunrise set. Hilarious, I got so sketched that I didn't even make it to Lawler's sunrise set. I tend to wig out and get extremely paranoid whenever I over indulge these days. So I stayed downstairs where it was less claustrophobic. LOL Only got to dance up a storm to his main room set which I enjoyed.
However, Desyn was not sick at all. He originally was scheduled to play an earlier slot at Montreal's Piknic Electronic Festival, but was moved back several hours resulting in us losing him for the night.:mad:

This morning was amazing! Lawler spun so well on Skybar. One of the best times I have had at guv for sure.
PS: If you go to any other major clubs with headliners people are going to be pushing through and also taking there shirts off. Not just a guvy thing. IE Space on a Carl Cox night raaaaaaammed. |
