| I thought Oliver MacGreggor actually played a pretty good set in the Guv. It was a good warm-up for Lawler. On the Skybar, although he trainwrecked a few times, he had a few killer tracks in there, namely his 2nd last track. |

I'm with you on that one buddy...
Didn't notice the trainwrecks but from what I heard his track selection was a perfect warm up for Lawler.
As for Lawler himself, I am quite convinced that "Nay" sayers simply just don't understand what is taking place. Lawler in the mainroom was ultra dark and slightly experimental at times. But anyone who listens to Lawler knows that he does that quite regularly. The only thing surprising about his mainroom set, was that despite having seen him multiple times in the past year he continues to blow me (and mainy others) away.
His skybar set was even better. There he played a slower, groovier, more prog oriented set, and it was in sick. The last hour of it built up to the epic awesomeness that is the entire reason I love Lawler. It felt like the entire night, from the mainroom, to the skybar, was one logical progression.
And to top it all off Lawler
1)Says "I'm absolutely ed"
2)Says "I love playing here more than anywhere else in the world"
3)Takes my Canada flag, holds it up in the air, then keeps it
If it's possible to get more rockstar than he does, I have yet to see it. |

Agreed 100%. I can't even put into words how much in heaven I was with Lawler tearing it up on SkyBar. I almost cried when the music stopped at 8. "This can't be over!". I felt like I was on another world. The tracks kept getting better and better.
Total rockstar too. There's something about his style that reaks of coolness. He seems so calm and collected while he's spinning, but you can tell he's having a great time by the way he smiles as he slowly mixes in the new track. So badass. All I really saw/heard of Lawler before this event was a couple of skybar videos, which were pretty coo, but I had no idea what I was in for. I'll never miss one of his sunrise sets again. SkyBar is just perfect. |

| His final, (double encore) track was the 2nd tune from his Trend DJ set that was released a little while ago, not sure if thats the one you're talking about, or if you mean the end of his actual set. |

yea in the GUV I thought he played some real good music. and then on skybar I thought he played some good AFTERHOURS music.
i think most peoples problems with him was the fact that he took it down so much on the skybar (in comparison to nathan). but for me personally id rather hear that that slow trippy drugged out @ 5am, not banging pumping 130bpm tech-house. but hey everyone knows that ALOT of people love their banging and pumping in this city so I can totally see how some people would have hated his set.
just not me cause slow and drugged out circo loco beats > hard and fast cz style beats.

For me personally McGregor just sucked. He let one track run out completely (I think that's the first time I've seen that happen... ever.) his tracks weren't going ANYWHERE (that place was DYING to go off), and his mixing was REALLY bad. lol |

Seriously. That was a true WTF moment for everyone. Thankfully Joe was there to put on a track, since the McGregor had disappeared to who knows where.
Not sure if anyone else noticed, but McGregor played the exact same opening track on Skybar as he did in the Mainroom. Weak.
Nathan was absolutely killing it. Such a shame that Lawler just didn't take over from there.... |
