ya it has a little sense of cafe del mar for sure i noticed, dunno if it was on purpose or not

wat a sik Canadas Day...
i only hered Lawler(main room/skybar), Motor, and 20mins of Oliver McGregoer....got inside at bout 1:15ish....
I luved the tunes lawler was pumping out in the main room vs skybar....he started to get really screchy on the skybar for my liking....i thought his set at TiL in March was a perfect 10...this one was a lil off....the SkyBar crowd was great.....
Motor came on at 4 and was juss killing it with those tunes.... APPLE was diffently a highlight of the night and the one dude from Motor pretended to DIVE OFF OF THE STAGE AND AIMED RIGHT AT THIS SKETCHY 40yr old ASIAN MAN and his SKETCH CREW that were rammed in the front....but then i noticed at 4:45ish i was 4FEET TALLER THEN EVERY1....i was in a sea of sketch.... that i bounced straight away to the skybar...
Aight heres the #s - Lawler Main Room 9/10 - SkyBar 7.5/10
Motor gets a 9/10 i luv Live acts....
VIVA TORONTO -9/10 another great Guvy party....
Lawler waving the Canadian flag at the end was classic...Lawler is first class in my book for that and for admiting he was ed off his face.... |

yeah, huge song from skybar... probably the one at 7:40, so good.
Karlo, is there a chance he played this track in his last 20 mins at TiL as well? The bass line is VERY prydz for me and I remember thinking it at TiL (so much so I told Kevin "this has to be prydz") |

i'm just going to say a couple of things
i arrived to guv around 3am, no line up, got into the guv and lawler was ing killing it, it wasn't very busy and was enough room to move around. Went up to the skybar and Nathan was on, i pretty much caught his whole set and he was absolutely incredible, everyone was loving his set.
He dropped this one sick tune from Radio Slaves latest cd and i went absolutely mental what a tune "Radio Slave - Screaming Hands (Screamapella)" i think it was.. nathan correct me if im wrong, ing loved it.
Then this ing guy shows up, his name is Oliver Mcgreggor, boy did he ing blow...he ruined my mood... First he puts on a track then leaves, the track runs out and the music stops, everyone is like what the ? hahah, Joe put on a second track and Mcgreggor comes back 10 min later all ed up, the guy was playing some ty ass tracks, really really mellow ed up minimal, i couldn't get into it, he trainwrecked at least 4 times, people that were with me who know nothing about music were noticing the screwups, people were yelling for him to get the off the decks. He was so retarded he looked like he was going to faint any second, i wish there were pics.
About 30min later Lawler got on the decks and started dropping bombs one after the other, it was incredible. So many amazing tracks, the sound system sounded very good and much better than i have ever heard. His set was almost as good as it was the year before and everyone was loving it. The only downside was that he didn't play as long as i expected for him to play, the weather was perfect and the place was rammed until the end.
One thing that really pissed me off was the sketchiness of the place, almost 80% of all the people were ed up on something, i constantly smelled some like crack, hash, weed and w/e else there is in the air. People were ed up on G pushing and showing, some guys started dancing in a circle and pushing everyone in the vip where there was no space no begin with, ing douchebags..
I've had a lot of fun though and i loved the ending quote, not the one where he says he's ed up but the one where he said "I love this place, this is my Home away from Home!" then he waved a canadian flag in the air.. that was ing amazing
It was cool chilling with some Ta's like Andrea, Laura, Graham, Jon, Karina and many others
Even though this years set was amazing also, last years was absolutely magical for me, it opened up so many doors for me, i started listening to many different styles and tunes that i've never listened to before so i give this year:
9.8/10
but last year 10/10 |
