Agreed... I think the thread should be changed to "Is Trance Dead in the US?"

I think that would be a different answer.
EDM as a whole has a very different reaction in the US vs. ROW.

C'mon Mike, Lets be realistic. I can put videos of People packing up Central park for PVD or Ultra in Miami. People still go out to see the events. Trust me I am in NO WAY knocking Trance. I still love the Genre. I just don't think the quality now is as good as it was. And I will continue to keep going out to events until I get sick of the scene.

granted showing vids of Dance Valley or Trance Energy is an exaggerated response, but my point is that the genre is far from dead, the quality is just as good. the fact is the nbew york scene has moved on. on the west coast and europe people are filling up clubs to hear trance still and not for the top 10 djs only.

i fully understand this thread is not knocking trance, i just think its judging the global scene by a NYC standard. the sounds is still huge worldwide. i dont think its the quality thats lacking, its a bit repetitive and im not hearing anything new myself which disappoints me, but people are still flocking in droves to clubs to hear it.

I'll give you guys a full report on the london scene after next weekend, Gallery/Turnmills is my first stop when I get there.

a better question is:

is trance uncool?

it's been 'culturally' dead for some time

I think you'll see a big difference Mike..Trance in the UK aint the same as trance in the US..It's played a lot harder in the UK,,banging and fluff free..
If you're gonna be in Turnmills on a Saturday night make sure you leave before Six am Sunday..Having said that,,muscle bound leather clad dudes maybe your thing and no one knows you there,, so wtf...

i have been to turnmills many times already and ur right the trance is different, they have a psy room and a hard trance room and the main where the big acts play, all in all an amazing vibe that cannot be denied.

as for leather clad dudes past 6 am, isnt that where we first met buddy? you were wearing those tight leather pants.

Now that's the kind of Trance that WE NEED HERE!!! Minus the muscle dudes in leather of course.

And just to clarify, I took the title of the thread to mean NYC. It is the NY Forum. IF it were in the C.O.R., I would have answered the way Mike is talking about.

There are so many people in Europe & elsewhere that will keep bringing the sick Trance Tunes. Sean Tyas, Simon Patterson, Greg Downey just to name a few.

I am constantly debating this one particular subject with a friend of mine from work. The biggest arguement I get about Trance is that it is "Juvenile Music" and not "Intelligent Music" like House Music Is.

Your thoughts please.
Addictive Global
I think the tracks released today are more interesting production wise than ever before IMHO.

what defines intelligent music and juvenile music? the people who listen to it and attend events or the production difficulty? or another criteria? what makes one more intelligent than another? i hear that all the time as well and find the whole concept ridiculous, if someone doesnt like a genre just say so no need for stupid excuses, almost sounds like they need to justify for themselves why they shouldnt like while deep down they do.

ditto.. people need to relax w/ the stupid classifications and just enjoy themselves whether it be trance, house, or whatever
