what defines intelligent music and juvenile music? the people who listen to it and attend events or the production difficulty? or another criteria? what makes one more intelligent than another? i hear that all the time as well and find the whole concept ridiculous, if someone doesnt like a genre just say so no need for stupid excuses, almost sounds like they need to justify for themselves why they shouldnt like while deep down they do.
Dude, did you just steal my brain? Seriously! That is pretty much word for word what I tell this guy.
His response is that Trance is this High Speed recurring baseline that attracts Kids while House(Tech-House in particular) make you think and is not repetative.
My response to that is usually: "Greg, I think you did too big a rail of kitty"

Your thoughts please.
From an Englishmans point of view the answer is simple..Back home trance is mainstream and the target audience is children..When you have top trance producers choosing to remix artists such as Kelly Clarkson,,Madonna,,Britney,,Timberlake etc etc,,how the can you expect adults to take trance seriously...You can't remix Teeny Bop bull one day and expect to remain credible the next...
Sean Tyas remixing AC/DC and Dj Eco remixing Pete Murphy is the way forward and I'm sure that there are others..
Another point is a huge majority of trance can definitely be classed as not intelligent,,because the lyrics and the music are so bad..Easily predictable chord changes and meaningless words...

Thanks Steve. Very well said. Seriously. That's the first time I have heard it explained that way.

What does a video from Dance Valley have anything to do with this subject?.....that place would be ram packed if Steven Grover was the DJ just because it's Dance Valley! And all for nothing but the people in the video are hardly DANCING LOL.
This subject is ing lame and it gets beat to death over and over....but here is my 2 cents. Of course trance is not dead.....it's only dead to those that get sick of the repetitive nonsense that plagues the trance genre. The production quality imo is not as good as it used to be in 99/00/01/02. The majority of the people in the scene just follow the natural path of music taste. Many people that got into the scene back then when trance was huge have moved onto house/techno/electro. I myself was all over the place.....I was actually into house first, then trance, then back to house, techno, and electro. It's all relative though because at any given time I will go out to see any genre as long as it keeps me interested. Trance might die out completely some day but not anytime soon.....it will always have the support of the newbies to the scene as this scene gets more and more commercialized. Will it die out faster than house music?....Yes I believe so.

Yeah that prob took him about and hour to type. :haha:

imo, production quality is actually much better. production creativity is not.
but as with all types of music, its hard to be an innovator. thats probably the most difficult thing ever. i remember hearing a famous jazz musician/pop producer talk at nyu and he said, first you have to imitate, then you have to emulate, and once you have all that down, is when you can step forward and innovate. it is this last step which takes the most effort and even with effort its hard to achieve. most people look past the fact of how difficult it is to be unique. so don't knock on the people who imitate, and emulate because they're on the step to becoming innovators. now the ones who can't move past that (or don't try at all) can be ragged on.
