And somewhat more off-topic (I believe from one of the movies I saw awhile ago):
How do you know that the devil is evil? What if it was god that was actually evil, and he lied about it? And devil was a quiet guy that decided to believe in people's goodness and trusted the "evil god" and got screwed in the process? I mean for all we know, god has a few books written saying that's he's "good", but where's devil's story? Devil doesn't have a book that says "Yo, check it, check it, i'm evil, I corrupt and kill people..." wtf...

Its arabic they were shouting and don't ask me to translate, but it wasn't rubbish.
My point was that the videos were not spooky at all . I was just taking exception to Provocative_boi posting a warning. The "possessed girl" came close to being spooky because of her voice, but even that was weak sauce.
Not very spooky, but chilling nonetheless if you are a believer.
Moral Hazard
My thinking on the subject... it matters not whether or not these people are possesed by a "demon" or just undergoing some deep seaded psychological trauma (manifesting itself in the symptoms others deem to be possession), the end result is they are experiencing some seriously disturbing . If the excercism helps them; either by casting out the demon or providing the context for a cathartic experience that allows them to purge the psychological trauma then I'm all in favor.

It would be interesting to see how many people actually get cured of their psychological diseases by going to the priest instead of a doctor.

If they are suffereing a psychosematic condition that is rooted in faith then a priest (or other appropriate religious leader) would be better equipped to deal with it then would a phsycologist or psyciatrist.

These peoplpe just clearly have some neurological chemical imbalance in their brain causing them to be schitzophrenic or bi polar or something
and the situation they are being put in is amplifying that

All major religions have some type of demonology, but I know very few people (including Muslims) who believe in those parts. It tends to be relegated to the fringe groups.
It's all well and good if you want to believe in divine or supernatural beings whose existence can't really be proven or disproven. That's a matter of taste, or faith, whatever. But it's quite another to posit supernatural explanations for events that have perfectly mundane natural explanations. People with mental illnesses need psychiatric care, not exorcists or any other "faith healing".
I'd have to agree with Digi on this one..

I agree. I believe the human mind has the ability to "repair" itself, and if the individual strongly believes in God/Devil then they have the ability to be "cured" by a priest. It's a mind trick, but it may be effective enough to work.

I heard from a few hardcore religious ppl who do believe in this stuff that the evil spirit who posesses an individual always goes after either a hardcore religious person or an individual who is physically or mentally weaker than the average person...they say it has no reason to go after the "non-believers" bc we already gave in to the devil..but i dunno if i really believe in this stuff or not...undecided....i do admit those videos are kinda scary
