Review: Sasha @ Guv (Halloween Extravaganza) 10.27.2007

Wow! Had an awesome night.

It wasn't to busy when we first go there around 11, and was decent until like 1230 i guess but then it kinda got out of control.

Spooky played a nice warm up set but only was on for like an hour.

Sasha...he played some wicked tunes and definitely kept the crowd moving all night. I wish I wasn't so tired before I came but ah well.

He played just under 3.5 hours which is a decent set.

The big part of the night was after Sasha finished we got our picture taken with him after we stalked him outside guv!! WOOHOOOOO

Post that pic Ian!

Bed time...

Pretty poor night for me.

The crowd was rediculous, of course, but that really set the tone. For some reason I could not get into Spooky's set, even though I know he was playing good tunes. He did infact play a bit spooky, but nothing really that evil.

Sasha came on, and looped the last song from Spooky, and mixed it with a really heavy, laboured baseline. That went on for 10 min, at which point I got worried. Sure enough, the heavy, laboured baselines continued all night, which made each transition feel like they took forever. The entire set felt like I was waiting for him to get started. He played a lot of good tracks that he has been playing for the last few months, but it was just a night of tracks, and no real set. It all felt very stale, and uninspired.

I ended up leaving just before he finished, which I never thought I would do, during a Sasha set.

EDIT: Highlight of the night was seeing AJ up on stage as a finalist for the costume contest. Way to go AJ!

I agree with Orko on most things he said... I definitely felt Sasha's last hour and a half of the show, it was nice and hard. This coming from a guy who's not a huge fan of house.

Anyways sketched out, proper review tomorrow lol.

I had an amazing time. Sasha was awsome, loved that he closed out with Coma. Caught a bit of Carola in Gallery and wished he wasn't playing at the same time as Sasha - he was really good (Barrato was really into his set from the look of it).

As for the crowd...its halloween at guv (actually its the first time I enjoyed the costume part), its going to be stupid at some point in the night. I just dusted off my Guv elbows and hit anyone who bumped into me stupidly. However, compared to Lawler a couple years ago - it was 100% better - Guv just doesn't seem as busy as it use to be. Are they actually handling the crowd issue better or is Circa taking away a few hundred 905ers a night, making it much better?

After Diggers in London and Ibiza a few weeks back and tonight...December 28 can't come fast enough.

spent most of the night in the drink and had a blast there

the thing that stood out for me was the amount of fights that broke out

Will have to write a proper review later, but I dunno. It was a decent set from Sasha, but I expected more and he didn't quite meet what I wanted.

Just got home now. So pooped.

Never wearing a multilayered costume in the Guv again. That was just so stupid of me.

lol +1 to the 'sasha was in retarded good'

The Gallery was also in retarded good.

Val, nice to put a face to a name. :)

Considering the chaos that was Lawler a few years back and the fact I swore I would never go back to Guv on Halloween, I thought there was plenty of room and was pleasantly surprised overall.

Some of the costumes... little creepy lol.

The Gallery was also in retardedly better.

Fixed :)

All in all, it was a great night. I pretty much expected the crowds and whatnot, with it being the Halloween party. All in all, it was not as bad as at Lawler two years ago. Still tough, around 12:30 to 3:30 it was just ridiculously busy, far too much so. Gallery was insane, and I spent most of the night there, with a few brief stints to check out Sasha. The biggest detrement in the Gallery were the plathora of e-farts. But there were some funny moments that resulted from it. My gf was REALLY thrown off by the crowdedness of the place, so we had to take off earlier than expected.

Hi to the few TAs I saw; namely DJSketchbag and FeedUrHead (is that how you spell it? I gotta get those pictures from you from the boat cruise :) )

Also, arriving at 12:30 and seeing ALL parking lots full, it was just a sure sign of the maddness inside. And coatcheck with a 45 minute lineup? Wow. Ended up leaving it in the Gallery. Man I love that place.

AJ, congrats on reaching finalists. Also, was it just me, but were those nylon/polyester cobwebs that were all over the place annoying as f***. Constantly people who walked by got it stuck in their hair/on their face, and amongst the wild flailing to remove it, there were quite a few misthrown elbows. I also caught this guy that was about to go headfirst into a wall as he tripped on one.

it was all about CAROLA....
