You should party in Cali sometime then. We normally get a little bit of everyone here.

And I can understand why most of you here wouldn't think glowsticking or stringing to be a dance form. I'm sure most of the people you see are those rolling face who can only do some sloppy figure 8's. But I've met people around here who have been doing it for years, and I've seen plenty of creativity and ingenuity coming from these guys. People who use their liquid dance abilities to enhance their traces, insane juggling combos, smooth as tutting, and even a dance student who could glowstick while doing front splits. If you ever saw people who were that good at glowsticking perform right in front of you, you might have a change of heart in this hobby.

I don't know where you came up with that number, but I think that's fairly exaggerated. If a glowsticker was simply tracing and threading, I really don't see how he/she would be able to take up that much space.

Try to go and just dance, and you'll easily see what I mean.

But if you do have a problem with glowstickers taking up so much dance area, then what are your feelings with break dancers? They take up quite a bit of space too.

Yeah. They are even more annoying. If you're going to a club that is packed to capacity, then it's kind of common sense you're not going to be able to breakdance that night.

I've seen them perform in front of me. It could be considered a form of dance if you want. But honestly, the majority of the people at a club (at least everyone I've been to) are there for A) the alcohol B) the music C) the people. Rarely does anyone want to watch someone show off their own little light show.

imo, glowsticking isn't a dance form. Glowsticks are an accessory in your hands while you are dancing. Normally they stick to one side of the club, and that's cool, do you thing and we'll do ours. Lately they have been trying to get in with the rest and knocking us in the face without saying sorry or excuse me. That's a 'il too rude for my liking. If I knock someone walking by or who is too close to me, I appologize and ask if they are ok, but glowsticktards think they have right of way.

Started stringing back in '99. Stopped religiously doing it at '02. Been popping in every now and then to check up on the Chicago crew. I can do all the moves in a nice fluid manner. My friends are better than me to no end, though. (much more artistic in the way they incorporate everything - including wraps)

Yeah... Old n00s.

Well, you have your views, and I have mine. I just think it's a bit of a slap in the face for those who've worked on glowsticking/glowstringing for years and are so good they can trip people out while they're sober. But I will agree that it's not right for those who glowstick to hit others and not apologize for it. I would apologize if I did that. But usually I can find my little space on the dance floor and go about my business without disturbing anyone. And if it's particularly crowded that night, I can easily do my tracing and basic liquid moves without the sticks. I'd like to think that our glowstickers/stringers here in the Bay have better manners than that, but we certainly have our few rotten appples that are too strung out on drugs and don't know what they're doing.

Yeah how is the glowsticking scene like in Chicago? I've seen a couple vids of Chicago kids doing it, but seems like most of the vids that goes out are from the East Coast.

I've been doing it off an on about 3 years. I'm kind of sensative to the fact that not everyone digs it, so I only do it when the atmosphere is right, like giant fields, and spacey clubs. If there's circles everywhere I love being able to just dominate newbs and make people just stop what they're doing to watch. Nobody can string people into oblivian in the their face like I can. I make people's eyes go crossed, their eyes go white, that's when my job is done...:haha: :haha:
narcism
lasers > glowsticks

only lil teenagers who think "raves" are "cool" use glowsticks
