Yeah Cleric. I studied his threading tutorial earlier on this year. He's definitely got skills. I've also enjoyed MadRaverRai's vids as well.
To Gen3r4l1ty: Well said. Although I wouldn't back off the elitism statement. Some people here think the way they party is the only way to party. It may work for you but it won't work for everyone else. I personally couldn't stand listening to real techno at a party for 6+ hours, but I'm not going to talk about the people who do.
I don't glowstick to look cool, I do it because I enjoy it, and can appreciate the time and effort it takes when someone else is out on the dancefloor busting out some nice moves. If people want to think I'm just some naive e-tard, then go ahead. You don't ing know me, and if you're that quick to judge a person's character by the way they dance, then you are a ing tool whom I don't need in my life. People are too quick to judge these days, and it ultimately hurts them instead, because they forfeit the chance in meeting someone new who might just end up being a good friend to them in the long run. |

Maybe elitism is the wrong word. I guess I'm just startled by all the hating, especially on a relatively innocuous practice that actually has roots in the culture itslef. (aside from the aforementioned inconsiderate folk, which I think we can agree are universal.) I just don't understand how something so harmless can piss people off so much. You say people should go to parties and lose themselves in the music... what if getting lost involves glowsticks for some people? Does that really hurt you? What about the other ways that people "enjoy" music? Could I say that people that go to a party and drink alcohol are just silly drunk kids that aren't really there to enjoy the music? Personally, drunks bother me way more than candy kids... but it's totally their right, and it's not my place to knock their lifestlye.
Everyone has their own way of enjoying music, as evident through the myriad of styles associated with enjoying it. I always viewed the scene as a place where a diverse group of folks from any walk of life could gather together and feel a universal flow of music; channeling it each in their own unique ways and adding to a central vibe that is 'the party.' It's my belief that if you are really going to 'lose yourself in the music', then a few kids waving glowsticks, or rowdy drunks, or coked out anorexics, or pushy sweathogs, or any other minor annoyance of any large group of people shouldn't effect you; right? |
Like I said I just need the music. Accessories like drugs, lasers, glowsticks are just for people who can't feel the music by itself. |

Or maybe people use them to help enhance the music and the overall experience? |

| Yeah probably because it is bad music and they're on drugs. |

Same here! +1
but then again I am more of a Deep House Dj and I would shoot the first nigga that would dare break open a stick on my floor! :D
but seriously though every one feels music the same way, that love for the beat, the structure and so on..... we just all reach that same level via different paths......

Speaking of Pacha, my friend is trying to convince me thru e-mail right now to see Robbie Rivera @ Pacha this weekend lolololol. he has a better chance of seeing Jesus than me showing up. God, I wish my job would give me some work to do this week :wtf: |

My brother does it and he's fairly good at it. It's still not entirely my thing unless I'm twakked out on pills.
I remember he took his glowsticks to Steve Lawler a couple of years ago before he realized that there's not a commutative property of glow at all shows. |

I refuse to go there unless it is someone I desperately NEED to see or LOVE!
No freaking way. VIP is the only way to go there. That main dance floor is filled with crazies.
I'll be at Webster this weekend for my Germans. Atleast Webster is roomy and the crackheads there don't bother me as much as Pacha. |
