Some people hate them, some people love em, but I think if your good at it, it looks AWESOME! I spin fire now because I started on the glowsticks. It's fun! Definatly though, in certain places, glowsticks aren't appropriate, like in a drum n bass room...:nervous:
I'm about as good as this guy..

I glowstick as well, and here in the Bay, it's not really unusual for people to be glowsticking at the dnb room of a party. However, if you went to a small dnb only party, you'd probably get hated on. I take it you string then? I freehand myself, both with photons and glowsticks. I've also been learning how to juggle too. Here's a vid of one of my homies going off with handles. For those who don't understand the term, it just means glowsticks on both ends of the strings.
And yeah, I love the art, and it's fun to watch those who are good with them go off.

I hate glowstickers. Never has one person taken up so much room on the dancefloor.
Ok, so I don't hate glowstickers... I hate glowstickers who "perform" on the floor. If you're going to do it by all means find an area AWAY from the main drag.

Glowstickers don't take up that much of the floor, glowstringers do. What I like more about freehand is that even if you're in a fairly crowded dancefloor, you can usually find some room to do your thing.

You still take up 3-5 people's worth of area. Stringers take up to 20.

I don't know where you came up with that number, but I think that's fairly exaggerated. If a glowsticker was simply tracing and threading, I really don't see how he/she would be able to take up that much space.
But if you do have a problem with glowstickers taking up so much dance area, then what are your feelings with break dancers? They take up quite a bit of space too. What about those who do liquid or shuffle around? Or those who pop and lock or a combination of those moves. I would imagine a person doing a lot of arm waves would happen to take up a lot of room too. Would you have a problem with all these different dancers taking up space? Because personally, I think it's quite boring for people just to be crammed in a room and being able to do nothing but throw their arms up and down.

You can always tell who the n00bs are at parties, because they use glowsticks.

I've never seen glowsticks at the same party a popper or a break dancer attended. Dancers are dancers... glowstickers...not so much.
