that area used to be considered second worst after jane and finch, obviously it's much better now but there is still lots of crime happening there and around the area. i lived there for 5years. |

not sure if this was pointed at me or the other new Yorkers who have apparently said something. I used to "live" in scarborough (thurs-monday with my ex)and I see that, yes its a worse part of town than others. I also had a friend recently bring me to her place, and on the way there she warned me that "this is one of the most ghetto-crime-ridden parts of town. I had to laugh when we got there. I really dont see what the problem is.
I think that, rather than talking about how "tough" a place is, you ought to be happy that Toronto is such a safe major city. Its one of the things I love about it. I think everyone needs to be cautious NO MATTER WHERE they go, but to say that Toronto is tough is hilarious. montreal isnt either. but just try to remember that this is a GOOD thing for faks sake!!
Dont turn into some of the teens I work with: they will argue all day long about whether BK or BX has more violence, and they will later go out on the street prove their damn point. There are wayyy too many gangs here, especially Bloods and Crips, MS13, latin kings, etc... who will stop at nothing to prove which territory is "tougher" and its fakin ridiculous because people get killed for pride reasons ONLY.
Went off topic a bit but the point is to say that Toronto is such a safe city and thats a great thing. Is it perfect? no. but when I see threads about the media-spazz-out over one murder, I feel like (yes that sucks) but you all should be greatful that you dont live in a city like myself, where isnt even put in the paper anymore because no one cares....it just happens way toooo much. I have been in front of cross-gunfire TWICE since I moved here and 3 other times when I was INSIDE. I also have at least 10 clients been shot or stabbed since I started and I have one girl, who is the sweetest thing ever, get cought up in a gang fight a couple months ago, and now she is up for attempted murder, asssult with a deadly weapon and gang-related violence charges. And she doesnt see the big deal. ffs. Take that^^ and be thankful. |

Interesting. I lived not far for about a 1.5 years, and continue to frequent the area on a regular basis.
Was there a particular group that you saw was responsible for shady behaviour? |
