I don't think the penalty was fair. If Mclaren were on the raceline in a corner, that would be fair since that's considered as blocking but this is not the case here. Heidfeld had enough to time to swerve around them and be back on the racing line before he started breaking into the corner. Watch this clip.

Wtf?! So you think cars doing flat out laps at 300kph, swerving around 50kphs cars to come back to the racing line a second before their braking, is safe? Not to mention the time they lose in having to swerve around the slow cars, even if at full acceleration. Not to mention how it can mess up their concentration.
No, the penalty was fair as the McLarens were on the racing line. And the rules that encourage crawling back to the pits need to be analysed and changed as soon as possible.
As for the race: turned out to be a bit boring, but I got the result I wanted. Great races by Kimi and Kubica. |
