i think they reccomend that you don't use serato w/ vista...

yea but laptops in the last 6 months dont come with xp. so i wasnt gona buy serato, a laptop and xp. i think its down to the manufacturers to make it compatiable with vista sooner rather than later.

camea says the new Traktor Scratch by native instruments is the only way to go, the sound quality is the best according to her.

im thinking of buying final scratch for a bedroom setup, how does it compare?
Its a lot cheaper than the others, thats why we're thinking of getting it.

Cheers.

it's also been discontinued for quite some time for quite many good reasons. very few people use it, i'm not sure if anyone even uses it in a professional setting anymore.

Yeah, I saw that it isn't really mentioned any more, but what are the reasons its been discontinued?
I remember hearing PvD used to use it among others, so I thought it was credible.

I need some help guys, I couldn't find it with the links on the sticked thread. And I'm a total noob when it comes to DJing.

I'm using X Session Pro, with Torq LE (which I think is torq 'lite' edition or something).

My computer tends to slow down when a song is playing in Torq, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Also I'm getting a sort of chorus effect on some tracks (I'm assuming it's either too loud or too eq'ed).

Any help is apperciated.

What are the specs of your system? (RAM, etc.)

Go to torq-dj.com and click on the forums. Go to the tips and tricks subforum and find the thread on tweaking your cpu for audio apps. It made a total difference for me on my older Dell system and now it runs great.
Also, if your system specs are a little low, you can try increasing the buffer size in the preferences.

But in general, there is basic stuff you can do such as turn off your screen saver and wifi. The audio tweak guide I mentioned above has tons more you can do to maximize performance.

Yeah, I followed the nemonic one. That guy is beast when it comes to this stuff. I think I did al the tweaks except the one where you change the hardware profile and they made a big difference.

It's amazing how much stuff bloats a typical cpu.

Serato on Macbook Pros. Very stable, like it a lot.

I had FinalScratch when it first came out, and also when it was Traktor whatever. It sucked, the hardware was crap and the USB port on the scratch amp wore out after a year and a half. Also horrible line noise.

Got SSL about 3 years ago and never looked back.
