Torq or Serato? (pg. 9)

I been thinking of switching from Serato to Traktor. I could really use those effects. The effects on Serato suck big time. I don't even use them. If it wasn't cause I also do videos, I would jump on Traktor right away. Still debating though.

why are fx so important to you guys?

sure they can be useful used VERY sparingly, but most of the dj's who twiddle with fx non stop sound like imo. Best way to turn good music into wtf is this .

Becase if you use them correctly and actually get creative with them, you can make some interesting sounds. Look at Zabiela. He can master the EFX 1000 like no other Mofo!

Paul Van Dyk
Sasha
Deep Dish
DJ Am
MSTRKFT
Tommy Lee
Benny Benassi
Pete Tong
Max Graham
Satoshi Tommie

moot point, bad logic. for the price torq is totally worth it. a digital mixing solution that's just as functional, but half the price of its competitors.

furthermore, on the three or so occasions i've had gigging with serato (using cdj-800's a couple times, and tech12's once) it's crashed on me.. once. i don't blame the hardware, i blame it on operator error- and that's what i think the problem is with torq crashing on people. some people are idiots and blame it on everything but themselves. this is just speculation though, i haven't used torq yet.

QFT! i wanna mix a few records together and that's it, plain and simple. maybe an occasional filter or delay. one of my biggest pet peeves is when people overdo the flange effect in a set.

Thats direct from M-Audio. Look on AGIProDJ.com. They have 10% today for presidents day.

Also check DJDeals or even ebay .

Dont pay more than 200-250 for it.

i bought torq with the timecoded vinyl and cd's, brand new, for $220 (free shipping). much cheaper than buying a new cd deck or serato, that's for sure. @ palm - let me know if you want a link, the place i ordered it from has like, 5 left

Nice. That's a good deal.

I got mine for 250 back in '07.

One of my biggest pet peeves is people using the flange effect at all.

That's a pretty blanket statement. 3-4 deck mixing can sound ty too. It's all what you do with it. Same for effects use.

elFreak
being done properly is implied, you all should know that even simply mixing 2 tracks from point a to point b can sound like too if one wrong.

if you need fx to make your music sound more appealing, maybe you should buy better music.

Personally I use Numark Virtual Vynil.. same look and feel as Virtual DJ... I use to mess around with VDJ for about a year or 2 until I got a real setup and it kinda just stuck with me. You dont HAVE to get torq or serato just to fit in with everyone else.. do what feels right for you.
