Rumor from WMC: Richie is "tired of it" and "definitely not going" to be at DEMF this year. Reactions?
Personally, I am extremely dissapointed, but if that is where he is at in his life, then fine. Even if he never returns to another DEMF, he will surely go down as a legend, but I have no doubt that there will be new artists that may eventually be remembered as timely surpassing his excellency. I'm a huge fan of Richie and I can understand why someone in his position professionally may decide to focus on other projects or simply try and play some new gigs elsewhere. I just hope that Ghostly and the Detroit labels are ready to amplify this epic transition and play through it with more intensity than ever before. I am extremely happy about James Zabiela playing the fest this year and I am hoping I will continue to be surprised as the weekend nears. DETROIT! |

Thank god - this way there is absolutely no chance of me having to endure a Hawtin set and then being forced to listen to oodles of mashed DEMFites wax poetic about how brilliant he is.
Good riddance. |

Indeed, but one can only take so many directionless lectures and rants on how awesome Richie Hawtin is. |

dont care about hawtin.
p.s. anyone who talks to me at demf about how awesome hawtin is - gets a punch right between the eyes |

| Anyone from Wisconsin might be able to take the Lake Express Ferry, its expensive but you can drink on it and hop on 96 and head right across the state. You can also pick me up as well because I do live real close to that area. |

It depends on what day you want to get down there. The opening party is always Friday night so if you want to check that out then come on Friday. The festival will start at noon on Saturday and go until midnight on Monday night. Traffic is never really bad in Detroit so you are good to go on that front. I would say get in early Saturday and leave Monday evening unless you want to stay until Tuesday morning. |

Theyve been doing a ton of construction downtown lately. Even if you aren't on the freeways that the work is on, you get the overflow. 94 looks clear so people coming in from Chicago should be fine, but just traveling in the area might be a problem if youre not familiar with detours. I'll post a link to the Detroit traffic site when it gets closer. |
