I wonder if this holds true?
It does in a way for me; I swore loyalty to one man and chose Paul. The day I stop going to see PVD is the day I quit dance for good. Which I don't see happening lolol!
I agree Paul is the master and thus commands respect even if you don't "like" him.
Heather, I think you and I are in consensus :toothless
I still think many of his productions still > newer talent and when he COMMANDS his sets, his shows still easily pwn that of the other TOP ten producers. I def have waayyy more memorable moments going back to his gigs vs. every other dj ive seen.
I will most likely never hit up another Summerstage event again...ell why would i when I have two of the best shows in memory (the momentous rain event in 04 and then the followup last summer :) ), but would def catch every other show he decides to do. I didnt go this one cuz i went to the Halloween gig...but i would more than likely hit up the NEXT. :D
Yes the VIBE and MAGIC that his GOOD sets bring are beyond any other.

I have very fond memories of pvd shows in twilo. a pvd show has a certain vibe, and his shows are usually dominated by 2 factors-energy and emotion, which are the essentials of trance music. after all the energy has subsided, in the last 2 hours or so of his set, that's when he plays some of the deep stuff that make you stand there at 4am and look at the lights and go--yes, this is it, this is the real deal being played by the real master. he can spin the magic, where oakenfold and others have failed. although I don't listen to his live sets and my fav dj's include markus, andy moor and above & beyond etc.... bottom line is a pvd night is a special occasion and an epic experience that is essential a few times every year.
excellent post and i agree when paul plays like those that know what he is capable of, no one and i mean NO ONE can touch him but to me he hasn't even gotten close to his potential these past few yrs. i am a loyal pvd fan not so much hardcore as i use to be because i don t like the way hes changed his style nowadays. when i go out to see him its only due to tradition and the fact that i still hope that one day he ll just play a classics nite where he plays like tomorrow was the last day on earth:(. unfortunately for me now its more of the fun factor i get when i see ppl i havent seen in a while. typically im not impressed by his track selections anymore theres never that WOW factor for me and i realize that when i go hear him play i don t dance maybe if it was a 6 hour set id dance for like an hour tops while at ferry if he played a 6 hr set id be dancing for all but 30 mins of it. i guess its the just the progression of where paul has gone, long are the days he stopped trying to reinvent the wheel an just play an let the music take u on the journey he wants u to go but maybe one day he can go back to his roots... funny thing on a side note last nite was going through some pix of nites out an stumbled across pix of him at roxy for nov 1 02... lo an behold behind him in the dj booth were *GASP* Vinyls!!!! i was like oh yea thats right he DID use to spin vinyl :wtf: :stongue:
enough of my rant/.02 i gotta get back to work:p

omg that WAS a kickass party shietz...and i even think Ferry was the night after at Avalon or something like that, it was a doubleheader wkend.
i just remember we were with a group of about 10 ppl and we closed PROPER. :toothless (didnt make it to Ferry tho but that just shows HOW AWESOME of a time we had at Roxy). The chillout room was banging, and i experienced my first 'space-ride' ever. OMG what a doozy  luckily no security around...ahah the good old days...
