| Honestly, I don't know how anybody could take like Trance music more seriously than say Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, etc. |

| I mean the music is brilliant don't get me wrong, I absolutely love it....But I'd never take the music as seriously as all the legendary rock bands, etc. |

I don't see why determining something as your favorite genre is contingent upon how seriously you take it.
There are myriad reasons why people would consider Trance to be their favorite genre, and I'm confident that many of those reasons have little to do with how seriously they take the music it as they do with simply having a good time.
Some people just like non-substantive fluff (not to suggest that Trance is inherently non-substantive fluff). |

The way I see it, pure trance is a pretty narrow genre. When someone tries to experiment a bit, it stops being trance (sasha, james holden, trentemoller, nathan fake). On the other hand, take metal or classical - both genres have huge wiggle room while remaining themselves. So if your question means 'trance and its derivatives such as prog, electro, etc' then yes.
(obviously, this is just my take on it. classifying genres is a bitch).
Though I do know a person who almost exclusively listens to ferry corsten - type trance. |
