lol Yeah, Newark's full of "in hicks", nice one!! I wouldn't be so quick to kiss the series goodbye. Any betting man would put their money on the Devils after last night's game. The Rangers are falsely comfortable and sure of themselves, and Sutter will castrate his players if they lose like this on Friday. Brodeur will NOT mess up again... The series is all but finished, my friend.

Hate to use cliches, but they're appropriate for tonight. The Devils came out with passion, determination, emotion, and persistance. They out hustled the Rangers, won loose puck battles, created more turnovers, earned scoring chances and just plain beat the Rangers up along the boards. The were the faster and more energized team. That's not to say the Rangers didn't show up. They did some nice things as well. A few nice scoring setups, some nice cycles...but that's really it. It wasn't domination, but the Devils were the better team today and they win this type of game 19 times out of 20. We also had so many more chances that were wide or over the net.

The first goal was suspect. Brodeur lets that shot in far too often. I know it was a light screen but you can't let that goal go through you like that. Marty has to cover up down low. The second goal was a disaster and a fluke. No need to rehash it. The third goal from what I can remember was kind of a broken play/flukey bounce that ended up in front and was cashed in by Avery. Game was likely over by that point anyway.

We hit three posts today, three fvcking posts! And I know the Rags hit one but that was a long shot by Jagr that probably was closer to outside of the net (I didn't hear a ping). Brylin and Ashams posts were coming right in on Lundqvist, the Rags D broke down many times today and we were an inch away from taking advantage (Elias at the end of the 2nd comes to mind). The Rangers at the start of the third period were RUNNING SCARED. We literally outshot them 9-0 until the Callahan fluke. They were wearing down, they didn't have their legs.

And when the hell is Zubrus getting a break? Perfect laser beam beats Lundqvist clean and it's another one off the iron! I know it was 3-1 at that point, but a few minuteslater we get a 2 on 0 down low with I believe Langs and Parise. What the hell, the Rags were sloppy in there own zone all game!

So let them get it out of their system. Let all the Rag fans hoot and holler (psst, it's game 1 morons). Let Sam Rosen and newly converted homer zombie Joe Micheletti heap undeserved praise upon the inferior, lucky Rangers. Please, build them up some more!

We're not going to lose this series if we keep playing like this. The Rangers are going to get beat up and worn down if the Devils keep coming the way they do.

From a very wise Devils fan on the Devs forum..... Be careful how you treat this win, guys. If I recall, the Devils were a team with an absolutely ty offense this year, and we hit four posts last night. Next game, one or more of those go in, and we've got the game. I was embarassed last night, but going into next game, it's not even pride that is keeping me positive, it's the fact that we dominated most of the game, and like they always do, the Rangers got lucky. Sure, take the win, luck's part of the game. But you won't come back to The Rock and win game 2.

Plus, it's easy and expected for you to root for your team, but calling the series so early on is a very big mistake for a fan to do ;) That's why it's a series... We're not going to lose this series if we keep playing like this. The Rangers are going to get beat up and worn down if the Devils keep coming the way they do. That's how a series works. It's not all psychological; the Devils aren't crying now and throwing in the towel. The Rags fans shouldn't celebrate and throw in the towel either. ;)

I'd like to thank Lundqvist and the post for this win last night. :gsmile:

haha See, at least you're honest... I'll be honest too and say that Lundqvuist is a beast... I disagree with anyone that says he's better than Brodeur (now), but he's definitely getting there... He's as exciting as Brodeur is to watch. At least this series is living up to expectations and a very entertaining one indeed.

Fleury looked like a brick wall last night......played the net proper and made some awesome saves. It's good to see him back to himself after that ankle sprain.

marcello I am assuming that you are speaking to the other posters, because anyone would be dumb to assume that this is going to be an easy series for EITHER team. I am a pessimist on top of all that, so I dont ever believe that we are gonna win until the clock is at zero and we have more goals. period.

also, thanking the goal post is stupid. If the **rangers** hit the goal post 3 times, I wouldnt even take that into consideration at the end of the game, because hitting the goal post is as significant as hitting a fan in the stands. Either way, its not in the goal.

The rangers need to do something about their defense, because it sucked last night (regardless of outcome) and Lundqvist is human. He cant stop EVERYTHING, esp when the D is breaking down every 5 seconds.

The rangers will win if they dont get lazy after winning a game, which is often what they do. ---->worst part of our team.
