i wasn't expecting such a lack of interest in the subject.

has a well-meaning documentary, albeit propaganda, ruined an entire field of research?

If you're interested, I've got Manly P. Hall's, a 33° Freemason, lectures on Astorotheology.

If you guys want an intellectual debate, stop criticizing skepticism to your view points as something wrong with the forum. So someone doesn't agree with you; oh, the forum is full of close-minded people, OMG...:rolleyes:

If YOU were open-minded, you'de accept the proposition that you could be wrong, and so to prove to yourself you are not wrong, you should debate your skeptics (PKC), and leave out all the "you're so close-minded" bull....:)

I don't remember making a direct reference to anyone, and there's no need to hijack the term skepticism. I wouldn't call the people you're refering to as skeptics by a long shot.

How progressive of you :wtf:

..but I don't recall anyone but pkcRAISTLIN pasting a review of Zeitgeist and slandering the movie. lol

I'm interested in what anyone has to say on this subject, hence the thread.

I would be quite interested in that.

You made a direct reference to the forum itself that because not everyone agrees with you, the forum has a bunch of dolts trolling around it. And PKC, by definition is skeptical of your viewpoints, so the term is appropriate.

What, to be progressive, I have to believe in the Zeitgeist scenario of reality? Give me a break...:rolleyes:

PKC is skeptical, as am I of the Zeitgeist hypothesis, so you should expect harsh criticism. I'm glad you want to debate the topic, but when comments like this... "if you had bothered doing any sort of legitimate research and apply some critical thinking, you'd know otherwise."....are thrown around, what the hell's the point? So because we are skeptical, we must not have done are research and critical thinking right?? :rolleyes:

My advice, let's stick to the points at hand, and all the dumbass little personal comments insulting each other's intelligence...

Now, my open mind will be looking over what you've got here, and entertaining the premises. My assumption right now is Christianity does not have its roots in paganism, but that doesn't stop me from listening to the Zeitgeist point of view on Christianity.

the 'progressive' was tongue in cheek. referring to your current title, of course.

let's leave it all in the dust.

do you not find that most if not all mythos share the same traits? i.e. 12 labours or hercules, 12 tribes of israel, 12 sons of Jacob, 12 disciples. i.i.e., 12 signs of the Zodiac?

You're oversimplified reasoning is not only incorrect but also quite retarded. There's several people I would consider open minded who do not agree with me. But feel free to pull things our of your ass.

Uh, that application makes the term meanigless, as everyone is skeptical of something. You do realize you just demonstrated my point right :conf: ?

You certainly felt at liberty to state..."This sub-forum doesn't exactly have the most intellectually open minded people. I was familiar with the subject well before Zeitgeist but if I were to say anything about it now it would automatically be associated with the movie and written off. I'd recommend finding other forums if you want to be able to openly discuss anything intellectually stimulating or interesting."

Did I pull that out of my ass too??...:rolleyes:

Yes they are, so why is it that skepticism in this thread is met with..."This sub-forum doesn't exactly have the most intellectually open minded people. BUt hey, I'm just pulling stuff out of my ass right?:o

I think it is very interesting, but I don't see how it is evidence for how Christianity arose out of paganism.
{b.s.e.}
The earliest Christians were Greeks and Hellenized Jews who were well acquainted with the beliefs and traditions of the many Mystery Religions of that time. Simply put, the earliest Christians were converted pagans and one of the arguments the early Church used to convert pagans was the numerical association Jesus Christ had with the the sun god Helios.
{b.s.e.}
You should really read up on the Gnostics, if you are indeed interested about in this subject. It predates Christianity by centuries. They knew the allegorical and astrotheologic nature of the "life of Christ", which was admitted by one of the Christian father's Irenaeus.

Lloyd Graham states in Myth and Deception of the Bible, "Irenaeus said: The Gnostics truly declared that all the supernatural transactions asserted in the gospels were counterparts of what took place above."

The astroloical imagery was the major difference between Gnosticism and Christianity, and the primary reason the Gnostics were refuted and their texts destroyed or mutilated.

Yes, you're pulling it out of your ass as your statement had nothing to do with what I said. Calling your narrow minded outlook 'skepticism' doesn't make it so. Where's your skepticism of what you've been taught by your parents, culimated via your limited cultural exposure, social and cultural norms, learned in school and told by different instituions? Ridiculing dissent doesn't make you a skeptic, or trolling those with unpopular veiws. Why did you take my comments expressing my opinion of the forum collectively, personally in the first place? How do you know which individuals it's inclusive of or if it refers to you at all? Your reaction only makes sense if you assumed it was implicitly directed at you. Your emotive nonsensical response is a reflection of your insecuries, something your 'skeptical' mind may want to ponder for a bit.

EDIT: Your aversion to even discussion of the subject can only be taken as a lack of confindence in your world view, which translated in to a serious lack of credibility. Any comments you see as being inaccurate evaluations of personal or collective characteristics or personality traits should be easy to disregard and ignore provided there's no lack of confidence in yourself.
