Haven't read any specifics, but from what I have read, Microsoft paid a hefty sum of money to get the only DLC content thru Xbox live and Xbox live only. So PS3 owners like myself are getting the shaft with no lube...but here is some lovely news from the exec's at Sony...

Also, apparently Microsoft paid around 50 million for the GTA IV DLC.

Yeah, that quote from Sony was either posted in this thread or the other GTA thread, but the 50 million number is something I've seen a lot of debate over with no solid evidence for.

Either way, when R* is talking about DLC the size of the San Andreas, so in my mind that whole little schpiel from the Sony rep just reeks of "damage control."

You can put make up on a pig it's still a pig :p Anyways I'm sure it will be a good game never said it wouldn't be. All I said I find it a bit repetitive going on to the 6th title.

This game interests me as much as halo 3 did (never seen it played or played) I'm not the type of gamer that's in to sequels and prequels of the same gameplay. Steal a car shoot someone, bounce up and down in a car with a virtual hooker, meh is all it is. I loved the orginals for what they were... original.

Atleast im a mexican who can afford white people internet. You're just mexican.

Yeah, its kinda ty that instead of making it up in some way by also acquiring exclusive DLC for games they share with xbox, they just point out that they have MSG4, and GT5 prologue and that we should be happy with that. Hopefully PS3 reconsiders its laid back position on the subject considering this may be one of the biggest games out this year...that type of attitude will definately make me switch to Xbox for future shared big title games.

Then again, I dont know exactly what the DLC will entail for the xbox, and how much it will cost? they say new city but we all know what is said, and what is done are two different things.

Absolutely. I do think, however, that the way some of the R* execs are talking about DLC and the rumored price for its exclusivity may put a lot of pressure on R* to put their money where their mouth is.

If it fails, it will fail hard. Maybe harder than any failure to come before.

just curious, but do you guys think Rockstar had, in mind, to make another city as DLC from the get go(and let the two console companies duke it out in bids), or did Microsoft pay $50m to fund the project to create the new city?

I think DLC was in the works from the beginning, but the scope of it was probably never really definite until the bidding war began.

I don't think Microsoft directly meant to "fund" the project, I'm guessing they were just shown proof of concept and decided to put up the loot necessary to get the rights, and in that way has wound up funding the DLC.

I just remembered this out of the blue.
It can't really be seen in the youtube video due to low-res, but here's a link I found on google from the VERY FIRST trailer.

I'm not saying that doesn't prove your point; it most certainly adds reason to believe that R* DLC will be in the form of new cities. That being said, it has always been a key thing with R* to mention other cities and people in the "GTA universe" to engross the player that much more into the game. Still, an interesting find to say the least.

The 360 DLC sounds like a killer, but price is going to be the key player. If they are talking about additional cities the size of what is in GTA4, what's to stop them from charging $29.99? That's not a helluva lot of money, but enough to deter me unless there is something REALLY kickass about what they are adding. Not to mention, how much hard drive space is this going to require?

Regardless, Sony's response to the GTA DLC exclusivity deal was repulsive. I know damage control is the big thing that PR has to deal with, but when all they do is mention other games in order to justify why PS3 owners will not receive additional benefits with GTA4....well that's just stupid.

Had this conversation with a friend the other night, and we both decided that should content approximately the size of something like Vice City (or even the size of the original Liberty City) with either a fair number of missions, weapons, or vehicles, we'd probably be willing to pay $20 and not question it - $30 would be a stretch, but if it were good enough, I'd probably pay that too.

At around 11:50am Greenwich Mean Time, the PAL version of Grand Theft Auto IV for the Xbox 360 was ripped and leaked to various torrent sites by a ground called iCON. This would of course enable burning a copy for the home console. Meanwhile, the NTSC version is expected within the next 48 hours. YouTube clips have been popping up online of the game's opening and early missions — but as of posting, many of the clips have been taken down. The retail release is a mere six days away. This isn't the first GTA game leaked as San Andreas was as well. And it was leaked a week before, too.

We haven't verified whether the 6.32 GB file really is the full game, but there are plenty of listings on torrent sites now and we contacted Rockstar for comment.
