You only need Silver to access the online store to buy videos/add-ons etc. |
No, it depends on the title. |

u have to find an employee that is willing to go in the back and dig it out for u...getting them to do that is hit or miss. They all hate their jobs and don't give a fcuk usually, but I have had success in the past. |

. This just keeps getting worse and worse.
I get out of class this morning to a voicemail from the manager of Software Etc. saying "Unfortunately we didn't get enough copies to cover our reserves and we sold out this morning in the first hour we opened. We hope we'll be able to get you one tonight, or at the latest Thursday."
WHY THE DID I PAY FOR THE WHOLE THING AGAIN?!?!
I'd at least have thought that the few people who paid for the whole thing would have had their copies held for 24 hours, but apparently no - first come, first serve.
I am ing brewing. Going to just try and track down another copy and tell Game Stop to off.
ing imbeciles, the whole lot of them. |

Anyone ever see the episode of Seinfeld where Jerry tries to rent a car but the rental agencies idea of what "reservation" and his just aren't the same?
:conf:
That's how I feel right now. |

Also, this (take it with a grain of salt until you've played):
| quote: |
Earlier today we broke the news that some Grand Theft Auto IV gamers were having problems with the game on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
For them, the game was freezing up during the introductory cut-scene, something that neither I nor Mike experienced during our time with the game on both systems.
Rockstar declined to comment on the issue officially, so I went to the phone and called up Rockstar Support to see what they had to say about the problem.
A very friendly, and obviously unhappy, fellow answered the phone who, after thanking me for not yelling at him and apologizing profusely for the problem, spilled quite a bit of beans on the issue:
The man told me that the problem is apparently only effecting the 60 GB version of the Playstation 3, but that it didn't matter than my particular console was a launch console (Yes, I told a little white lie and said my copy was locking up.) He said the problem is not across the board for the 60GB PS3s but rather only impacts some, so their tech folks are working around the clock to try and figure out what is causing the issue.
He did ask me to make sure that my harddrive wasn't full and that I had the latest firmware update, but confessed that that really isn't what's causing most of the problem. He also said that the Xbox 360 is having the "exact same problem," which has further stumped their tech folks.
I asked him if wiping the harddrive and reinstalling the PS3 version would help, as seen on the PS forums, he said I could try but that he hadn't heard of it helping a single person.
He ended the call by saying that they really have no idea when a fix will be coming because they can't figure out what is exactly causing the problem and then once more apologized.
"I feel terrible about this."
If only more support folks were as empathetic and genuinely concerned about the problems their customers are going through. |

Happening with a lot of high profile releases right now - but as is mentioned above, no idea how widespread a problem it is for now, so we'll see. |

| ty dude, I hate dealing with video game stores. Last night I had to wait in my car for 2 hours til almost 2am when the line finally died down at EBgames, while in the same plaza Best Buy had dealt with their 200+ line by 1:15am. Seems people without pre orders at ebgames decided not to leave the line and go to the empty lines at Best Buy cause they felt they had to stick it out for already waiting over an hour in line and instead of doing the smart thing and walking across the street to faster service, make me wait in my car another hour longer because it was way too ing cold to wait out side for a game. |

Why does everyone wait in lines late at night for games? For a big console release I can understand, but games?
I debated going to pick up GTAIV last night but decided to goto sleep instead. Today around 1pm I casually strolled through Target and picked it up for the 360. They had plenty of copies...
imo anyone who buys new games at Gamestop or EB Games are idiots. They purposely only enough copies to fill the pre-orders. Half of the time you buy a game that is "new" but it's not new because it's not in shrink rap and has their stupid stickers on the case. |

Totally not true. I went to GameStop today with my reservation in hand. The dude looked at it and said "This is from a different GameStop." So I was like "... alright..." The kid then told me "Well... we have more than enough copies. So, you can buy it here and then go to the other one and get your money back." So... I bought it there. :clown:
As for the game itself... I'm really not a fan of the graphics on the 360 version. Hopefully they release a patch or something, cause Saint's Row looked MUCH cleaner than this one. |

You really don't know what you're talking about. I worked for Game Stop for three years, and at any given time we only had one open copy of each game we had in stock to demo in the store, and if it wound up being our only copy left we absolutely had to tell people it was the store demo copy before we sold it. |

My local gamestop had no problem with selling me an open game. How it worked there (and im not sure if this is a company thing or not) is you'd grab the game off the shelf. Hand it to the cashier and they'd pull the disc out of a drawer and toss it in the case. Not exactly a brand new game as advertised....
As far as the quantity of games each store stocks, I'm going by what I've read on consumer websites. For the most part I don't know what I'm talking about. But for buying new games, I'll stick to the big department stores. Used games and accessories I'm all about Gamestop |
