If you were adopted, would you want to know?
If you knew, would you want to meet your birth parents?
If you adopted a child, how would you feel about the birth mother trying to contact you?
If you gave up a child, would you want to contact him or her when they reached adulthood?
Any other thoughts on adoption? |

Was that grammar on purpose :conf: :p
And I really can't think about it, because I've got nothing to relate it to me. |

Nevermind. I misread it. What I saw was "Can't think of nothing worse" and I almost exploded. |

Highly dependent on the situation.

Yeah, I am.
My brother wanted to meet his biological parents, and I think he expected something glamorous. He didnt really get what he was expecting and I think he was disappointed.
Im quite happy in my current situation and have no need to meet my biological parents. She was 14 and he was 18. It was obviously a hard time for her, and quite possibly could be something she has tried to forget. I dont want to add that kind of stress to my life, and I wouldnt wish that on her, either.
The "should you tell your children" thing... god. Yes. My mom has worked in adoption all her life. I know other kids who were. I can tell you right now, if you keep it from your children, theyre going to find out. And when they do, its going to their lives up. Tell them early and often. Make it a part of their lives. I can honestly NOT remember the first time I was told that I was adopted, because my mom told me when I was very young, and I grew up understanding what it meant. Best thing my parents could have done for me. |
