like always, italy gets ed over with bad calls.....if the game was 1-0 going into half time, the result would have been very different
even saying that, italy should have scored on many occasions, we didn't deserve to tie....HOWEVER, if Italy want to advance anywhere in the tourney we need to play better.....they were playing like england for 90 percent of the game, with hopefull long balls to Toni, nobody running off the ball, nobody making runs.....
now a partnership between romania-holland screw job is going to happen, esp with italy's luck at the moment.
although i really feel holland (even fielding most of their bench), are capable of winning, and would want to prove a point to everyone that the loss against romania in qualifying was a fluke
on the other hand.....holland has every motivation to lose this, not wanting to face either france or italy later in the tournament.... |

we'll see who they put in their starting lineup next game.. even their second team might be able to win or draw easy
watching netherlands play in both games it was just great football
some jaw dropping goals against seemingly experienced teams, I hope they can go all the way
this euro has consistently delivered quality |

I don't understand all those useless long balls, it was very clear that all they do is send high balls to Toni who is out of form big time. THEY SHOULD START PASSING ON THE GROUND AND SIMPLY SHOOOOOOT, in coach pisses me off.
I beleive that Italy deserved to win, the goal that was cancelled is 100 % valid and this would have changed the game. Moreover, what was the penalty call, that was the stupidst call in the tournamnet.
I don't think that Holland will want to lose but for suer will not push very hard. Players like Rubben, van Persie, Boulahrouz, Shneider may stay on the bench and this is understandable. |

| it all boils down to two things; ridiculous coaching and the dominance of the netherlands team. Gomis never shouldve set foot on that pitch, much less when it was 3-1. and certainly not instead of benzema! anelka needs to be cut from the squad. henry simply could not afford to miss the volley that he did. ribery is the only one that impressed me. the defence was also in complete dissaray with thuram. but enough about the french mistakes, it was all about netherlands and they truly brought it and make me think they'll go on to the finals. i hope france get a second chance here and move up to the next stage, perhaps they'll get a boost. it all depends on their match against italy and how romania plays against netherlands. |

your exactly right on all your points.....to be fair, Toni had a remarkable year at Munich, but as it stands now, the guy can't buy a goal....
bring out on Boriello or something, will be interesting the france-italy game.....let's just hope that holland do their job, cause even tho I picked Romania to get out of the groups, their playing like and don't deserve to go through.... |

tsk tsk tsk. before the tournament began, i had france marked as my one of my favs to win take the tournament. to be frank, so far i've been extremely disappointed with their performance. absolutely no hustle what so ever from the french. their football lacks pace and intelligence. which is why they kept losing the balls to the dutch. the french line up really seems out of tuned. domenech has not really sat down and critically thought out how much poential the french have. any football team has potential (assuming the manager is somewhat competent). domenech on the other hand, not too much to say.
the french back four is a fairly decent group of players. abidal on the left, gallas and thuram in the center, with sagnol on the right. sgnol has not been performing very well at all. a fairly weak winger with very little involvement in the middle and front of the pitch. even though coming from a solid club like munich, i guess he's just one of those players who dont perform for the national team. french manager should give a chance to a right-back like clerc. younger, more agile and would seem to do a better job than sagnol in terms of pushing quality balls to the midfield.
in the midfield france seems to be fairly strong, however they have their flaws. i havent really seen much from malouda so far except for his naive approach to scoring. malouda's a good shooter and all but he really needs to stop with those useless long ball shots. sidney govou will do a much better job than malouda on the wings along with ribery on the other side, makelele and viera in the middle.
if domenech does not want to be named as a disgrace, his first step should be to never play anelka again. as i've said on this forum before this play has acquired some pretty poor qualities since leaving arsenal and real madrid which was his prime. not an intelligent player as well. gomis is a great player who will be getting very good offers from top clubs accross europe after euro but to be honest, he doesn't seem to be a well rounded player like benzema. he seems to only think about the end result of his task but not how to get there. benzema and henry are both consistent players who should consistently be at the front of the french attack.
disappointing tournament for the power houses italy and france. in some way its kind of refreshing. were seeing alot of other teams who's theme really is revolving around youth and thats been proven fun to watch. hustle all over the park and unprecedented amounts of determination.
whats with the numbers on the dutch jerseys, kind of looks like masking tape. what the. |

for all of you who follow club football theres been some big news for the past week or so. Luiz Felipe Scolari is set to be the next coach taking over the reigns at Chelsea FC. pretty big signing. 27 million on a 4 year contract. of course like any other signing in football it has its criticisms and supporting arguments. im a big chelsea fan myself and i support this singing. even though scolari doesn't have extensive club experience like other managers, he seems to have his tactical approaches down pretty well. knows where and when to play a player and can relate to alot of players. his english might be a barrier to quite a few lads on the team but thats minor.
scolari might be a little blind to what chelsea really needs though. before euro's started chelsea signed Bosingwa. a pretty solid right back coming from FC Porto who will be a way better job than ferrera on the right wing. scolar's is going to go for the easy signings like going for players he worked with on the portugese side and the championship brazil side from 2002. he's been targeting players like deco, ronaldinho and even kaka. even though he might have been given a blank check to take to the transfer market after euro, chelsea doesn't need players like these. RAFAEL VAN DER VAART! chelsea really lacks a strong attacking midfielder. van der vaart and joe cole on the two wings in the midfeld will make the chelsea midfeild a real treat to see. in terms of forwards, chelsea needs some new ones as well. drogba is leaving and to be honest is already out of form. anelka just sucks. what to do...
so what does everyone else think about the scolari signing? |

| I think is it is a good signing but as a Manchester United fan I was not very scared when it happened maybe because we always tend to compare the one who will take the job with Morinho....I find him an overated coach, although I am a Brazil fan too, I don't beleive that his tactics were the ones that made Brazil win the world cup in 2002, if u guys all rememver the 4 R's were all in top top form and were probably the best players in the world, each one in his position. Maybe the word overrated is wrong but he doesn't have any exeprience in the EL's which is proabbaly another challenge for him but time we tell. From what I know, he is a stubborn coach so dealing with all those super stars is another big challenge for Big Phil |
