france romania game was extremely disappointing. romania's attack minded 4-3-3 formation didn't really seem to work. i've seen very few instances in which this formation can work. forwards are forced to multi-task through the whole game providing support for the midfield as well as attack whenever possible. desperate defending from the romanians throughout the whole game. on france's counter attacks all you see is a sea of yellow in front of the keeper. france seemed to really not care. even though im a chelsea fan, anelka is perhaps the dumbest forwards i've seen since i began following football. no intelligence what so ever when faced with defenders or the keeper himself. seems like his strategy is get the ball and shoot aimlessly. i've lost alot of respect for the french coach for choosing such a poor forward. this guy should honestly fly back to london and enjoy his summer with the family rather than making a mockery of himself in front of europe. david trezeguet. what an amazing season with juventus. del piero + trez was probably the best stroker duo i saw in the serie A this season. its really a shame we dont see him play in euro. solid form coming from him this season.

netherlands vs italy. wow what a game. first and foremost there is no way that first goal was onside. buffon knocked one of his defenders behind the net during his attempt at saving. think the ref though that player was still in play so he allowed the goal. dumb ref. either way, much deserved win for the dutch. nothing but hustle from all four corners of the pitch. hope to see some more of those counter attack abilities later on. pretty entertaining.

like everyone said, france played like ....french coach is not the sharpest knife, not taking trez is a big mistake, like i said many times, i don't see france going anywhere if they keep playing like this, even tho romania was playing all defense, still sad that they couldn't produce at lease more scoring chances (only 1 real one)

for italy v holland:

i think italy lost that game before the whistle blew. I don't know what the coach was thinking. Starting the game with that kind of mid, a pure defensive midfield is what killed us. Why didn't he play either Aquiliani or De Rossi to spark some opportunities. In D, Matrix had to start fine, not the best choice, but at least he should have started Grosso on the left and Zambrotta on the right....glad they lost, the coach with have to change the line-up

not to take anything away from the dutch, they played really well. Even with that lineup, italy didn't play so bad (we created alot of chances and should have scored on at least 2-3 occasions.

First goal was total bull, the defender didn't even know where the ball was, and didn't stay down to opt the offside, but wtv, italy should have had the experience to not lose their cool and keep on playing, which they did to an extent, however holland played smart.

kudos to the dutch, big win for them, and they'll have all the confidence in the world to beat france, which can happen. Good for italy that romania and france tied, still gives us a chance to get out of the groups, we just have to win our next 2 games, and again, i think its possible

amazing game for the Oranges. wow so much speed! Group C is even more interesting now! Looking forward to the France-Italy game.
Keep in mind that France often has some slow starts during tournaments like this...but with no Thiery Henry, it was harder to generate some attack. I really like Karim Benzema though, he's so versatile, plays very deep on both sides of the field...him and Ribéry can still generate a lot of offense in this tournament!

As for Italy, well I don't know the team + subs well enough...but it's pretty obvious that Fabio Cannavaro's absence hurt them in game 1. he seems to be the heart of this Italian defense..Without him, it was a dutch picnic yesterday.

With this 3-0 win Holland is taking a serious option on the first spot in the group. Can't wait for Friday's games!!

ya holland > romania sorry bud

and it should have been 2-0...with that also, Italy played well, the dutch just finished there chances (they had a couple and finished on the counter), Italy should have scored at least on 2-3 occassions and didnt finish...

and, france was attacking for literally 98 percent of the game, with romania having one shot total....

taking that into consideration, Italy did play better than france, and if you look only at the score line and make a decision on how a team played... go watch another sport

Cannavaro is a person who is missed but italy still have a much better defense than most teams in this tournment,

like you said, the subs ......that game, we probably had a better team on the bench than on the pitch...that was the problem, again tho....dutch played surprisingly well, give them credit

Italy were really disappointing yesterday but I am sure they will bounce back. Cannavarro’s injury proved to be crucial. The first goal is not an offside. The Italian Referee Chief confirmed that. The Final result nin my opinion doesn’t reflect really Holland’s performance. They were not that good but Italy was in a bad shape. I was surprised to see Donadoni start with 1 striker WTF and he waited too long until Del Piero and Cassano were brought in. I was wondering all game WTF happened de De Rosssi, the Italian coach is driving me crazy with his dumb tactics. I just hope he starts with 2 strikers next game.

Would be really interesting if Italy beats Romania and France draws Holland. Forza Azzurrrrrrrrrrri!!!!!!!
