I am sick and tired of hearing people complain. The next person who does so is going to be punched in the throat.

public transit, even though i live in the middle of the city with trains, subways around i would rather spend more and drive the car than go on the subways we have here.

That reminds me about a week ago in my local train station some ing bum took a in the subway and wiped it all over the walls :wtf:

I live in the Uk and here is how ive got round the price rise in motoring.
2 years ago i had a Volkswagen lupo GTi 1600cc 16v pocket rocket
daily commute was 30 miles all in
mpg 35 and at the time fuel was 89p/44c a litre
so roughly £10/$20 for a day and a half of commuting
but..
it was only 130bhp but had a 0-60 time of 6.5 secs and 130mph flatout so i was always racing a bloke in his bmw or merc
MY BAD i know but this threw up a cost of £10/$20 a day:confused:
silly me , so i did some homework and set my self a target for fuel spend of no more than £150/$300 a month fuelcost.

This ment getting a new car so i did

A citroen C3 1.4HDi commonrail turbo diesel

70bhp bit less than i was used too but its a diesel so torque is through the roof.
it does 57mpg urban and on the open road it tops 90+mpg so combined its 67mpg
my daily commute is 25 miles
so now my £10/$20 gets me 3/4 days travel
Its a light blue and i look a prick in it but im saving loads of cash
So much ive now been able to buy all my lovely production goodies!

my record of mpg is 86mpgfrom blackburn to newquay , cornwall or 360miles that cost me £25/$50
not bad i think
and my yearly road tax is 35 quid
insurance fully comp is £400 a year

HURRAH FOR "ALL INCLUSIVE FUEL" SALARY PACKAGES!

I can drive for 12 hours a day if I want, then just charge it all to the company.

I guess the good portion out of this, is that people are starting to walk/ bike more,
instead than eating potato chips at a red light
Seriously, I've seen the amount of bikers & people walking increase
on my way in/ out of work

in texas when it's 100 degrees outside - you'd be killed for saying that.

The only benefit to these higher gas prices is a reduction in green house gases being released into the environment. Sorry Clovis, but theres no way public transit can replace our cars. Only a handful of the major cities is where most people can use the transit system and still be practical. That leaves about 90% or more of the rest of the U.S. (as the example) dead in the water. people in Florida for example are screwed for sure without cars. The entire state is so spread apart and theres no transit system that can handle covering all the areas. Actually this would apply to all of the states except in the major cities. This whole issue will have some serious problems and its only getting worse each day. Moving closer to a city is not an option either, as theres not enough housing for the millions who live outside of them to do this, as well as the transit system itself not being able to keep up with the influx of more bodies. If that was even an option, what about the economic issues of all the renters leaving the apartment buildings, car manufactures closing down leaving thousands of people jobless, and all other companies that aren't located in a big city shutting down? Improving the transit system would take decades and billions of dollars to even make a dent to extend to the outside areas...wheres this money going to come from? We need to make a shift away from cars and use mopeds/motorcycles, hybrids and other small vehicles. This really is the only option in being able to pay for fuel and still be able to get around. Does anyone know what the projected oil amount left on earth is? Its clear we are approaching the end at our current consumption rate.

It's also making us seriously think about alternative fuel sources. It's a step in the right direction.
