lol.
THIS is why so many Americans are fat.
"It's too hot to walk outside"
It regularly gets to 100-120 degrees here, and most people don't have any trouble going for a walk. |

I don't have that but yeah that's one of the reasons.
Still though I rather drive my car than walk. |

| The major cities in Texas is also very sprawled out. You need a car to go anywhere. |

Yes, we are in a similar and unfortunate situation in Australia. Too much space! |

I'm seriously considering getting a motorcycle and parking my Mustang for a while. Not sure if I want to sell it, but it looks like we will be seeing gas prices in the $6 range (U.S.) in a few months time. Thats the one thing that scares me about being on a bike is getting plowed by some idiot or old who didn't see me. I have a friend thats now half braindead because of that when he was thrown off his harley by some old lady. |

Adapting to a new way of living will not be easy - Besides, I love Ford Mustangs; some of the boldest muscle cars ever built imo |

Its funny how people act like because our current transit system sucks theres no hope. China built a new airport terminal, new subway lines, new train lines for the olympics in no time. http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/gyzg/t275411.htm
This might be the kick in the ass the country needs to start such projects. |

Comparing China to the rest of the world is not a good contrast of how we should live in America and Europe...little thing called freedom. Dunno why u are so into public transit. Is it the environmental issue? I hope so, because people like their freedom and giving up their lifestyle to only be able to travel when the bus/train comes is going to be a big problem. As well as building enough trains/tracks, buses to cover the country is going to be a real problem and many many years away. Thats not practical. People will need a form of transport that they are in control of...simple as that. Only thing I can see is the switch to motorcycles and scooters, or some new cheap fuel technology that a combustion engine can burn or an electric car battery system with a very long life. I am with u on getting off oil and gasoline/diesel engines, but giving up your freedom of travel besides a bike is not going to work mate. |

China also has trillions of dollars in surplus, compared to the United States' trillions of dollars in debt. China is a budding economic super power, and has the cash to build a public transportation system. The United States' governments have failed it's people. They cater to the businesses and reap the rewards of borrowing money from nations such as China. Do they think consequences don't exist? The proletariat mustn't wait! |
