Yea groceries suck (3 ears of corn for $2??), but Dag has some decent specials sometimes. I'm more concerned with $10 six packs.

Grocery shopping in Manhattan blows so much. Tiny grocery stores with prices that aren't quite reasonable.

This is why the Trader Joe's at Union Square is always insanely crowded and always continually restocking around the clock. It's the most reasonably priced store in Manhattan to do regular grocery shopping without waiting for sales.

How dare you call the 4/5/6 the green line! :toothless :p :clown:

Hey, I moved here from DC where the subways are universally referred to by color! If that's not New York'ish than don't color them! Actually I made the mistake of calling the LIRR the "lir" instead of the L I double R and was promptly made fun of by the ticket lady.

Two blocks away from the Met/central park ;). Moving out of a high rise into an UES brownstone (and yes exposed brick is nice!) was the best decision I ever made. Only crappy part is the commute all the way to downtown sucks and the green line can get packed but eh, I love my neighborhood. I don't know why, but a crapload of bars in UES have beer pong/flip cup ... I love it.

wow, thats a really nice area. dare I ask how much you pay for an UES brownstone?? :nervous:
The 50's has some great bars. my BF and I go to BlackFinn and stuff around that area (when I have a weekend off from the clubs!) :)

Vern: OMG I went to Trader Joe's with Wai once and got RUN OVER by people trying to get to the food. People were getting into verbal fights about the line, pushing and shoving to move up..... :nervous: LOLOL Sundays there are not the best idea!

My fav place to shop in the city is Chelsea Market. VERY cheap produce (cheaper than upstate!), a meat/fish market, specialty italian place (hard to find cheeses, salami's, etc), a wine vault, soup place, flower/tree joint, bread/pastries shops, not to mention the Food Network and EMIRIL LIVE!!) Love that place to death! <3 <3

Seriosly, try to find a mexican store, and you can buy all the stuff for cheaper than most of the other local stores.

it costs me 750 bucks for one person to eat western food from costco in one month here.

Unless it's a weekday morning at 9 AM, I won't shop at Trader Joe's. It's already a madhouse with all the old ladies from Stuy Town shopping around 2 PM.:wtf:
