Kinda hard to get your own place at 13 or 14 wouldn't u say?

That's the thing though - I don't believe you have your own place. I think you're very, very angry at your parents and can't wait to get out of their house.

You certainly aren't displaying the intelligence of an individual who is capable of taking care of himself, much less living on his own.

I know quite a few people that live with their parents, and they don't have to answer to them when they come and go. Perhaps if their home lives were as ty as yours clearly is/was, they'd have a reason to leave.
bimgo.

Living with your parents at any stage in your life shouldn't be quaffed at by any means as long as you are doing something useful with your time and life there , ie. saving cash, paying off debts, full time job, helping the folks at home, contributing to bills, rent.

If your sitting there stagnant doing all with your time and mooching off your parents, then that really doesn't help you achieve any of your goals at all in life, nor does it help in your development/growth as a person.

Just another way of saying I'm a lazy ****** who wants to be given instead of actually earning your own way. Has nothing to do with a country's culture. Make your own life instead of waiting for the parents to die so u can get a house, ya bum.
oh man.. i am reading this thread backwards.. lots of lulz from this guy.

yeah for real. I dont even know people who live in the Bronx for that kind of money. You def cant live on the island for that....yes maybe brooklyn, but not manhattan.

I live in Manhattan in a SMALL one bedroom. I spend about $2500 a month in rent and bills (typical bills: rent, utilities, college loans, credit card, food, etc etc). my rent is soon going UP based on the multi-million dollar condos going up, too. Bull.

I am living comfortabely, but things like vacations usually have to be saved for like a year in advance. I dont really need to cut costs, AND am able to save/invest, BUT its still tight. I def need to make a budget and cant O.D. on a ton of stuff (no huge shopping sprees or random BIG vacations EVER.)

No way could I live on anything in the 20's 30's 40's per year in NYC and be comfortable.

Edit: One thing I DO struggle with is trying to save for a place to BUY.

wowza....buying a studio here starts around $400,000 (hole-in-the-wall that you would never even THINK of living in).

Just to have a comforatble 1-BR would easily cost me $600G's and with the high taxes, there is just noooo way I am ever buying a place before the age of 35-40!! :( :( bummer!

I would have to charge u for such life changing advice. Living with the parents is ok for a little while, to help u get a nice savings, pay off any remaining debt, etc. After that, take mama's nipple out of your mouth and become an adult. Having some money constraints/stress will force u to improve your job, education, etc. since u would have too to make it!

:haha: seriously LOL

just one note: if i was forced to further my education at university another degree will cost in excess of $10,000 and my wage wouldn't increase.
Im currently in a managerial job at such a young age and a step up of that would be to become a co-ordinator, something i am unable to do because i am yet to have 5yrs experience in this field.
I fail to see the comparison of having a successful career vs living out of home.

Total ignorant comment here, culture plays a huge role in this. Most european (catholics mostly) will not move out of home until they are married. Its generally a moral thing, as we all know we are good little virgins :p

EXTREMUM
Rule of thumb - no matter where you live, if you make 3x more than your rent/mortgage expenses, you'll be alright.

I live in NYC with my parents, we pay $5.3k monthly for rent, its expensive but sooo worth it. I currently have a part time job at $20 an hour which will soon become a full time job as soon as school ends. It would be hard as to afford an apartment around here by myself, but thank god for my parents lol
