Blizzard hype: New project announcement?

EDIT: Confirmed to be Diablo III
-----------------------------------------
If you go to www.blizzard.com, you get an abstract splash screen featuring some blue/teal ice or lightning motif. This is new as of this morning. In the past, blizzard has used this as a means of building up hype for new projects; The image is put up several days preceeding an announcement, and it gets clearer every day as more clues are revealed.
For those of you not aware, next weekend is the Blizzard WWI (World Wide Invitational) in Paris, France. The WWI is an e-sports tournament/blizzard convention and last year it was the site of the announcement for Starcraft 2 (which used a similar hype device on the blizzard website several days in advance).
As an avid follower of all things Blizzard, I am aware of a few clues that have been loosed over the last few months;
- Blizzard devs are split in teams. Team one is the RTS team. After Brood War (1999), they set to work on Warcraft III (2003) and it's subsequent expansion, after which they have been transfered to project Medusa, which last year was revealed to be Starcraft 2. That team is hard at work, thus, it's safe to assume they have nothing to do with this new project. Team 2 is the WoW team. They produce and maintain content for World of Warcraft and it's expansions. Recently, many of the team 2 devs have been transfered to accelerate progress on Starcraft 2. With the second WoW expansion (Wrath of the Lich King) still in devellopement, it's safe to assume the rest of team 2 has it's hands tied at the moment. That leaves team 3, which has been keeping quiet since the release of the Diablo 2 expansion.
- Blizzard often posts job openings on it's main website. Recent positions have called for people who have experience develloping MMORPGs and content for games similar to Diablo and Diablo II.
- Since the release of the original Warcraft in the early 90s, Blizzard has maintained only three lore universes; Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo, each of them having their own unique art style and setting.
My predictions:
- 75% chance it's Diablo 3. It will follow in the footsteps of it's predecessors, but at the same time it will take a more MMO-oriented approach.
- 20% chance it's the beginings of a completely new universe. No starcraft, no warcraft, no diablo. Considering the Diablo and Warcraft universes cover a great deal of the fantasy spectrum, we could assume this will either be a modern day setting or a new sci fi universe.
- 5% chance it's a revival of Starcraft: Ghost. Ghost was "indefinately postponed". There's a possibility they're going to revive the project with a new direction, a new graphics engine, and possibly an MMO element. |

I'll take it.
Though I'd also take Diablo 3, just not quite so MMO. |

Yeah. Although considering their philosophy on other games, I doubt they'd just pull another world of warcraft. It would probably be more like D2 but with a more expanded multiplayer aspect.
I just really hope all this isn't just for WotLK, or I will be very, very dissapointed. I don't think they'd generate this much hype for a product they've already announced. |

OH GOD YES PLEASE
I heard it's going to be more of the same. Same perspective. Not an MMO (still faux-MMO like D2, with 8 people per room, cap). |

More evidence to support the D3 theory:
- WWI lands on Diablo's anniversary
- The domain Diablo3.com, was previousely registered by a fansite. A few months ago Blizzard requested that they turn it over to them.
OMFG CONSPIRACY :nervous: |

| I'm almost guaranteeing its Diablo 3. Its the most popular Blizzard franchise that hasn't seen a new iteration in the longest time when compared to their other two popular franchises (Starcraft and Warcraft, obviously, and I include Starcraft 2 since it has already been announced). |
